THE JIM MUELLER COLLECTION This is one of the automobiles from my private collection being offered here for sale this week. I have had a passion for cars all my life, and in 1981 began collecting those cars I loved as new cars in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s. Since then I have owned over 250 other classics, each one purchased from the heart. It might have been a childhood memory, a duplicate of family, relative, or neighbor’s car, or a car that I always lusted for growing up. Some were also purchased because of low miles and/or originality, some for rarity, some for being national winners in their class, and some just because they were the best I had ever seen of that specific automobile. There were also some “barn” finds! I have even owned some of my cars two and three times because I missed their company. At any given time, I have had 30 to 40 cars in my collection. Some have been in the collection 20+ years. Others come and go after a year or so of being enjoyed. Space limitations frequently motivate me to sell, and also the opportunity to replace a specific car with one of the same make, model and year, that I find even more desirable in terms of low mileage, originality, pedigrees, and even color. The collection is housed in my air conditioned warehouse in Boca Raton Florida or my garages at home. Because I travel from my home in Palm Beach Gardens to Boca Raton several times a week for business, the cars are rotated between the two locations (35 miles each way). Any work or ongoing maintenance is overseen by, in my opinion, one of South Florida’s most knowledge and experienced classic car specialists. I hope this gives you a comfortable feeling about the cars in my collection should you wish to bid on any of them as they are offered during the coming weeks and months. I have sold 14 cars from my collection since January of this year at various auctions in Florida and North Carolina. I am a serious seller and understand the market. 1982 Mercedes 300TD (V-8 383 Crate Engine Conversion) Professionally installed 383 crate engine. This car is beyond amazing. The mileage of 34,500 is considered to be original. The body has never had any rust. The interior could pass for a two year old car. Before coming to my collection in Florida the car spent it's entire life in Arizona. The gentleman who owned the car before me had it for over twenty years. When he first purchased it he had the original turbo diesel taken out and replaced with a 327 cubic inch engine. Ten years later he replaced the 327 with a 383 crate engine. The conversion was so professionally done that if you didn't know that the car came with a turbo diesel you could believe the 383 was a factory engine. The car car has power steering, brakes, windows and factory ice cold A/C. The only modifications to the car other than the engine was the addition of after market wheels and tires. The factory radio was upgraded also. To say this car is a ball to drive is a gross understatement! The power is awesome.
