Lowered Reserve!!  Here we have a very nice 1961 BMW R69S in Dover White. This is a triple numbers matching machine. This being the most desirable condition. The Engine, Frame and Original Steering Head Data Plate are all correct original parts - and all share the same number. Confirming that they left the factory together - as you see them now. Recently serviced, this bike starts and runs great on one or two kicks. It features the very desirable large 6.3 gal Schorsch Meier Sport tank. Having this tank not only balances the appearance of the motorcycle very nicely, but gives you significantly expanded range. These motorcycles get good mileage and are a real pleasure to tour on. So fewer stops for gas are a welcome bonus. This machine also sports the optional Hella Bar End Turn Signals, and a nice set of Headlight Mounted Mirrors. The troublesome hydraulic steering damper system has been replaced with the more functional friction damper system. Looking very nice, this Beemer features an older restoration that is very presentable and will turn heads where ever you go. The paint and chrome are in excellent shape over all. A nice original type tool kit, extra plugs and a BMW embroidered ship towel are included in the top mounted tool box as well. Very few miles ridden since restoration. BMW Mobile Tradition has confirmed in the form of a hand signed certificate, that this motorcycle was made on Nov. 16th, 1961, and was shipped on Nov. 20th to Butler and Smith - the US importers - in New York, N.Y. This special certificate is included in the sale. The bike is currently registered to the owner ( a customer of mine ) and is in Non-Operation status to save costs. I am selling for him as he finds this bike a little large for him, and he does not ride it often. The pink slip, and current California Licence plate with 2012 tags are here and included along with an Original Owners Manual. There are some small imperfections that can be expected; small wrinkle in the rear fender where a rack was mounted to the fender holes, The tires have some checking on the side walls but appear sound, along with the rest of the replaceable rubber parts on the bike. There is a small crack at the leading edge of the front fender, and some paint damage on the frame where a set of engine protection bars were mounted at one time. All of the electrical functions work perfectly, as they should, and the bike is a real pleasure to ride. It pulls strong and smooth and shifts well. The ride is balanced and it pulls nice and straight. Ready to ride. I have set a reasonable reserve on this sale,  below current market value. Look at my feedback and history and bid with confidence.
