Vehicle Detail
1987 Mazda RX7 Turbo II with about 90k miles on the chassis.I HAVE DONE THIS PROJECT FROM START TO FINISH. THIS CAR IS OUTSTANDING! Here is the gist of it. I bought this as a broken down pile in a driveway in 2006. While in college I worked on this and spent just about every dime I had to get the engine swap done. I finally graduated college and got it running (perfectly) in the early summer of 2008. I drove it for a few hundred miles and had various bugs that I worked out over time. I began to invest in the Exterior ascetics of the car. I moved in 2009 and went back into covered heated storage until 2012. At this time I invested in the interior and turned it into what it is today. I guess over the course of the last six years I have just out grown this car. It seems I have lost the passion. So, now it is time to make it someone else’s passion. This car is beautiful and fast. I initially dynoed the care at 268HP to the rear wheels when I first swapped the engine in 2008. Shortly thereafter I ran a 13.2 ¼ mile on drag radials @ 101MPH. Since then I have installed a more free flowing exhaust and have had the PCM power tuned. Last week I ran 13.05 @ 106MPH on 18” street tires on a track known for being slow… I have at least $15,000 into this car not including labor and time http://youtu.be/YRHXuLObvGc http://youtu.be/Pc_OgmovoeMhttp://youtu.be/WGf1_sQLuPEhttp://youtu.be/08qRaEKJClkhttp://youtu.be/Qt4Cm2Ru5nAhttp://youtu.be/Ec_s_iE-uGo Here are some highlights of the car: Engine 1994 LT1 from Z28 Camaro ~85k miles This engine runs perfectly Recent Power Tune New Opti-Spark, belts and seals just before install into RX7 Granny’s Speed Shop Mounting kit Custom dual 2 ¼ exhaust with cross pipe for max flow Apex-I N1 Dual Exhaust (sounds amazing) and looks better K&N Cone Filter and CAI Power steering adapted and operating correctly Adjustable Power steering dampening valve (adjustable for feedback preference) Wire harnesses tucked and clean Koyo Radiator Low Temp Thermostat Corvette fuel rail covers Corvette Throttle Body Plate New Starter New Battery Body Acura Championship White with Pearl Paint GP Sports Replica Fiberglass Sideskirts GP Sports Replica Fiberglass Rear Bumper GP Sports Replica Dura Flex Front Bumper Professionally Pulled and Rolled Rear Fenders Interior New Full Carpet kit installed in March 2012 New floor mats New dynamat installed in march 2012 factory driver seat recently partially reupholstered and re-bolstered, but stell has a stain L Personal steering wheel wrapped in light grey/white Removable Steering wheel hub for extra security white face gauges new shift boot and classy shift knob The interior is legitimately nice, especially considering the age of the car Stereo (professionally installed in March 2012) New Head unit with CD player, USB MP3 Slot and IPod Charger/adapter Freshly installed tweeters and 4 inch speakers up front with 3.5 inch speakers in rear Speakers are amped with crossovers The car is sub-woofer ready with an additional power cord and RCA cables run to the rear of the car Alarm Python Alarm (professionally Installed in March 2012) Paging FOB system Doors, trunk and hood censored Impact censor Auto start Keyless entry Wheels and tires XXR 006 Staggered fitment (some curb rash) Front 18X8.5 Rear 18X10.5 I cannot remember the offset, but the fitment is nearly perfect in both the front and rear Front Nankang 215 40 18 80% Tread Rear Nankang 255 35 18 65% tread Brakes/Suspension Stock Turbo II Calipers Drilled, Slotted, Vented Rotors Pure Energy Full Polyurethane Bushing Kit Granny’s Speed Shop Sway bar Spacers to retain sway bar with engine swap Eibach Sport Springs Unknown aftermarket struts (a little soft currently) Drivetrain Granny’s speed Shop Transmission Cross Mount Granny’s Speed Shop Driveline 4L60e Transmission Electronic shift kit Factory TII LSD Considerations This car Is old and has a few minor issues The headlight relay works sometimes and not others The wiper relay doesn’t like to turn off once its on The passenger side window switch does not function, but the driver side switch can operate the passenger window The dash center bezel shattered when I was pulling it out sometime ago The paint is not perfect and has a few chips, runs and minor virtually un-noticeable dents Speedometer needs an adapter to work. I use an Iphone app for a speedpmeter The tach was recalibrated, but isn’t perfect LEFT FRONT ROTOR VIBRATING AT FAST STOPS There are some other minor issues here and there, but nothing that can’t be fixed pretty easily. On Jun-05-12 at 18:23:03 PDT, seller added the following information: I took it for a drive today and noticed a few other things that I wanted to be upfront about. The right front brake is squeaking at stops. Also the power steering is squeaking too. Also the drivers side window seems to be a little loose when rolling up. I am sure that these are easy fixes.
