Outstanding candidate for vintage tours and rallies! Morris Garages announced its new Twin Cam Roadster in the spring of 1958 and began selling them over the summer. With much more power of the pushrod engine, the new double overhead cam, four-cylinder powerplant with its twin SU carburetors produced an impressive output. Additionally, the Twin Cams were equipped with four-wheel disc brakes (protected by knock-off disc wheels) and were capable of 115 miles per hour. With a limited production run, over the years they have become highly sought after by enthusiasts. The 1959 MGA Twin Cam Roadster offered here has red paintwork over tan cabin upholstery, tan convertible top and proper vented steel wheels with knock offs. This U.S. export model based on an early 1500 body unit was subjected to a major restoration several years ago and features leather seats, racing belts, heater/defroster, lacquered wood dash panel, black carpets and traditional black rubber MG floor mats. Side curtain pouch, full tonneau cover and Thor hammer accompany the car. Although the restoration has aged, and crazing can be seen in the brightwork and paint finish, it remains a strong, well suited and fierce performing driver as-is. This Twin Cam runs very well in both city and highway cruising and is ready tour right out of the box. The undercarriage is nicely detailed and the engine bay is clean and tidy. The mechanicals are a great aspect of the car, it drives smooth and the exhaust has a great rumble. Factory produced for the serious racing devotee, this Roadster would make an outstanding candidate to take on any vintage challenging driving event! The MGA Twin Cam has become highly collectible in recent years and they are very difficult to find. Perfectly restored examples have fetched over $100,000.00.
