1978 Peugeot 504 Diesel 4 Speed: This car is a diesel legend! Be one of only a handful of people driving a unique and special car. The 504 was Peugeot's most durable car, remaining in production from 1968-2009, and is the world's 28th best-selling car. This 504 was purchased new in Torrance, CA and has remained in Los Angeles since then, as the original blue & yellow California plates attest. A full receipt folder, including original bill of sale, is included with the vehicle. This car always starts and runs smooth. The transmission shifts effortlessly. All gauges work, including the main and trip odometers (!) All chrome and badging is present, intact, and in either very good or excellent shape. There are ABSOLUTELY NO LEAKS OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER on this car. It burns no oil, and has no water in the fuel (the most common cause of diesel smoke.) The headliner is PERFECT, and the upholstery is in very good/excellent condition, with both front seats and the top of the rear seat having been reupholstered. The front power windows work well, as do the manual rear windows and sunroof. ***Disclaimer of non-working items: There is no radio installed. The windshield wiper motor is inoperative. The battery retainer strap is missing. The left rear taillight cover is cracked. The dashboard is slightly cracked from normal sun exposure. The horn does not work. The headlamp bright light feature does not work. The glove compartment lock has come apart, but all pieces are present and the compartment door and light do work. The clock in the instrument cluster does not work. The fuel gauge works, but reads just over half tank when full. There is one small tear in the rear seat vinyl which is about 1.5 inches long. The center wheel lug caps are missing on the rear wheels. This is a great chance to own a real head-turning diesel. Save gas at over 35 miles per gallon. Start conversations wherever you go. Avoid the emissions/SMOG inspections. Be unique. Use it to go grab a baguette, some brie, and a copy of your favorite Voltaire work. I was raised with these cars and can attest to the quality of this example. Enjoy!
