Vehicle Detail
1967 Ford Mustang Fastback; This car is a beautiful example of a timeless, tastefully modified, and well maintained muscle car. This car was restored by its previous owner and includes complete documentation (although unfortunately no pictures) of its restoration. A binder of invoices from the restoration is included with the sale totaling well over $15K. The body restoration and base coat/clear coat paint work was performed in 1999 (invoiced at $3300) and is exceptional for its age. The actual paint code and name is unknown; I'd call it a blue/violet color. Minor body modifications were made (note ’68 style lower scoops) and the hood, front fenders and door skins were replaced and all body panels aligned. All weather-stripping and rubber gaskets including front and rear windshields are documented as being replaced at the time of restoration. There are minor nicks/scratches that are included in the photos below; the worst is the trailing edge of the drivers’ door. It looks as though the door skin is separating in areas and may require attention to prevent further damage (the exterior paint surface is unaffected). In my experience this is a borderline “show” quality or exceptional driver quality restoration. The body is extremely straight and the car has been garaged since its restoration. The engine is a 351W (1977-1980 Block) built by Jasper Performance in 1996. Full documentation of cam specs, tolerances, compression ratio, clearances and even bench dyno sheets are provided. The engine fires, runs, idles and performs flawlessly. The bench dyno shows a peak horsepower rating of 401Hp/393Ft.Lbs of torque and the receipt shows over $6400.00 for the engine build. The engine currently runs an MSD 6AL ignition system, Edelbrock Performer Intake, Mallory Distributor, Demon 850 carburetor, March V-groove pulleys, an external dual oil filter/cooler and Hooker Super Competition headers that dump into Flowmaster 40 mufflers. The interior has been mostly replaced to a superior driver quality with all original style parts. The seats have been reupholstered front and back, carpet kit installed as well as a brushed instrument panel and dash kit installed. All gauges, switches and electrical components function properly with the exceptions of the horn, radio and speedometer (it will need a gear to read correctly). The car is equipped with power steering and power brakes (4 wheel disc) and was originally equipped with A/C and heat (most components have been removed). The suspension parts all appear to be in great shape (replaced during restoration) and include an aftermarket heavy duty front sway bar, performance coil springs, cross member and Monte Carlo bar. The car rides on beautiful polished 16” Torq Thrust II wheels and Falken tires showing 90% + tread. The transmission was also provided by Jasper Performance at the same time as the engine build. It’s listed as a “Class II” Performance C-6. The spec sheet for the transmission lists: “high stall torque converter, competition shift kit and performance shift plates and clutch packs”. The transmission is invoiced at $880.00. The car has a B&M ratchet shifter installed that shifts great. The rear axle appears to be the factory Ford 8” with factory 2.89 gears (there’s no documentation to suggest it’s been changed actual gear ratio unconfirmed). The drivetrain is strong, the car shifts well and the fluid is clean throughout. The car seems to shift a bit early in my opinion; although I haven’t attempted to adjust the modulator to correct this issue. There’s also a minor drivetrain vibration I haven’t yet diagnosed; only really noticeable at speeds above 45mph; possibly driveshaft balance. I am very familiar with this vehicle; however I’m not the owner and I’m listing it for a close friend. I have performed all recent service and maintenance and I am happy to answer any questions regarding the vehicle. The included pictures should speak for themselves although additional pictures will be provided upon request. This vehicle is sold “as is” with no warranty expressed or implied. Vehicle inspections are welcomed and can be scheduled at any time. We are also willing to arrange shipping at the buyers’ expense. We do reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is listed for sale locally. Preferred method of contact is email and serious buyers once verified will be able to contact me by phone. No trades, no checks! A $2,000.00 deposit via Paypal or wire transfer is due at the end of auction, balance due prior to title transfer.
