Vehicle Detail
1950 Dodge Wayfarer, in running, driving condition! VIN 37073164, with the straight 6 cylinder, 230.2 Cu. In. engine. Mileage is 85,729.3 This car runs fairly well, but would be better with a carb rebuild. Car warm, at idle, has 40 lbs of oil pressure. I drove the car about 6 miles, and it had plenty of power. I don't know how the "Fluid Drive' operates, so I just used the clutch to shift...there was no slipping, but the clutch could use adjustment, unless it's like that in a fluid drive auto. The brakes work but it pulls a little, so there may be an adjustment issue, or a sticky wheel cylinder. All the lights, wipers, and horn operate.....most of the time.... maybe some contacts need to be cleaned. The previous owner installed an 8 volt battery to boost starting. The battery is not holding a charge, and the car needs to be jumped to start. Also, this car should be a 6 volt POSITIVE Ground, but the previous owner changed it to NEGATIVE ground. The car had a tree fall on the roof with a previous owner, and the repair was not the best, since the bondo is now coming off the repair. Someone that can do body work shouldn't have any trouble making this bad repair look good as new. I bought the correct Mopor Model 604 radio for the car, and had it rebuilt to operate like new! The foam rubber gasket on the front of the radio could be replaced, but my radio guy doesn't carry them. The ashtray, clock delete plate, and radio delete plate all go with the car. I have a Fulton Sun Visor with all mounting hardware that goes with the car, as well as a pair of 1950 PA license plates, rerpo owners manual, and some spares in the trunk. The jack and tire iron are present, and while the tires have great tread, they do have dry checking and should be replaced if any serious miles are going to be put on the car. There was rust repair done in the floor, but it wasn't a major amount. There is a hole in the muffler that makes the car loud, so the exhaust system will need to be repaired/replaced, depending on the extent of the rust. The interior is not original, but is in good, to very good condition. Installed Arvin heater and blower works. The shifter knob is not original, but I actually kind of like the larger knob. I bought this car as a project this past December, but have not done a thing to it. I have a clear title for the car, and am only selling it to finance another project. I'm sure there are many things I left out, or missed in the description. Please ask questions, and I can take additional photos, but I can't get under the car, to look, or for pics, since my lift is broken. The car is being sold, AS-IS, WHERE IS! There is no warranty, and no returns! Deposit due via PayPal, and balance due in CASH on pick-up! Car can stay here for up to 30 days after auction's end, if you make those arrangements with me and the car is paid in full via check or other means. I will NOT release the car until I am certaind the funds have cleared! Shipping, and all arrangements for shipping, are the responsibility of the buyer! I can assist in loading, and there is room for a car carrier to come for the car. The car can be driven home if you are local, but I wouldn't trust the tires for a long drive.
