Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is our 1965 VW Microbus/Vanagon/combi/transporter.This is a one owner bus and I can prove it, because I knew the owners when I was a little boy.I also used to ride in it.The family bought it new in 1965.The father was a maine state police officer, and for years this was taken care of.But now has rust and needs to be restored. They have now passed on, and I got this up in northern maine from them.(where we used to live, they were neighbors of ours). We bought it several years back with plans to restore it, but did up a 1966 bug first, instead of the bus, and now have started a family, and with the economy, we now have to forgo it. We hope it goes to a home to be restored to it's fullest potential. This is a time capsule in every sense of the word.It was driven up until almost 1989.Then it was parked in a run down barn when we rescued it.Everything is original on this bus,(see the pictures)It does have the typical rust on the roof, and has rust underneath in some area's,A dent in the roof, that should pop out, and some dings and dents on outside of body.Again, see all the pics. The floors however, for the most part seem solid.I can walk around in it o.k..There is a rust hole on front of floor on passenger side and by one of the side doors,I took as many pictures of all the imperfections that I could. It has never been in a serious accident and everything I mean everything is there to work with.Nothing has been altered. The back hatch has a broken hinge on drivers side,so it won't close completley. With only 60 some odd thousand miles on it,it has faired well in harsh new england weather for 47 years. It does not have the motor, however, all the drive train and tranmission is there and intact. It is also missing the rear bumper, inside rear view mirror, and original radio. That's it. However, installed is a 1960's/70's cool aftermarket pioneer stereo receiver/cassette player, with a big am/fm dial for a tuner. Also under dash is an equalizer and 200 watt speakers behind seats.Dash and knobs etc.all there and complete. The interior is all intact, looks to be original or period curtains, all original grey mesh interior. Rear seat and original headliner, dash etc.seats have sheepskin covers, but under them are a mess and need to be re-upolsterd.Also included is the original carb.,oil bath air cleaner, and a few other parts. Even has a period postcard hanging from the curtains that I have left there since we purchased it.It has been in storage since we have had it for the last several years. There is no broken glass anywhere, has two, looks like period or original wide white wall tires that are 4 ply bias.It also Looks like they were working on it before putting it away.Because,There is some ameture body work done in some areas, new rockers on the passenger side and fairly newer brake lines all around. It has original velvet green and 26 white paint.Has original wheels and hubcaps,it is a walk through model. It's a 4 speed stick.I think, for the most part I have covered everything, but any questions, please ask before you bid. If I left anything out.Bidders with less that 10 feedbacks need to contact me before bidding! We are selling with no reserve, and sold as is,where is.There is no title(not required for a vehicle this old in the state of Maine)It will be sold with a bill of sale.Buyer is responsible for shipping and/or pickup.Full payment is required within 5 days of auctions end,and would like to be picked up within 7 days of auctions end. Payments accepted, are Bank or cashiers check(once cleared)Money orders and cash.If you need other arrangements, please call me, or e-mail me so we can make other arrangements if needed.I can be reached at(207)752-4680,that's my cell.Leave a message if you get voice mail, and I will get back to you shortly.Last but not least is the vin.# Top left has three numbers 120 then under that are:425002081114,then under that is:UV281287or(1)7835040825.I found out that what all these mean,is it is a 1965,I believe microbus, two tone velvet green paint and 26 white paint/mesh gray interior, 15 window-walk through that was imported into Boston mass. The bus is for sale locally as well as of today,8/6/2012,and can end the auction at any time if someone buys it,like I did with my 1974 beetle(sold it locally).Thank you for looking.
