Vehicle Detail
This is a nice driving 1962 VW Bug with a ragtop. Here’s what history I was told / know of the car: I was told it spent it's whole life in Boston MA, I purchased the car in April of 2008 and drove it home 350 miles from PA. I bought it at a car show and drove it back (the owner tailored it from boston, MA). I was told that the car was restored 7 years prior and I've owned it 4 now, which makes it a 11 year old restored bug. As you see it is pretty much as I bought it. All I've done to it is put a new battery in it this year and rebuilt the carburetor. It's been very reliable but I've also driven it very little. I take it back and forth to car shows and maybe work on a nice day. It's never seen rain and washed only a handful of times over the last four years, and never driven at night. It has cloth seats that look nice. Has the correct Golde handle for the ragtop. Everything works to my knowledge except the Emergency brake and the factory radio (has a cd player in glove compartment but never have messed with it.). All blinkers, turn signals, speedo etc all work. The car was converted to 12 volt and was done right, it's not a wiring nightmare like some of them are. It's got a 1600 DP that has low miles on it, and runs well. It has a few chips here and there but no noticeable dents. The only spot I see any body work is in the quarter panel behind the drivers door where someone has touched it up at some point over the last 7 years before I got the car. The floor pans, heater channels etc all look good. The bumpers are showing their age, but are still very presentable. You should be able to get in and drive this car with just up keep here and there. For as old as the restoration is, I would say it's in great shape. There hard to find in this area, let alone in this nice of shape with a ragtop. The dash is uncut - Looks to be 100% Original with not even a repaint Miles show 13,300, I would assume it's been rolled over The car is being sold as is where is Clear OHIO title in hand in my name Bid to win - The highest bidder takes the car home! I can be reached at 864-556-9695 with any questions, my name is Andy. I encourge you to come look at the car and drive before bidding. The only reason I am selling is I am moving out of state and can't take the car with me. The car must be picked up and paid in full within 7 days of the ending of the auction. On Jul-31-12 at 18:44:09 PDT, seller added the following information: I got a phone call from a previous owner a few days ago with the following information: He purchased the car in 98' and in 2000 the car had 107,000 - when the motor was fully redone and a transaxle shipped in from califonia and the kingpins were also replaced at the same time. He sold the car in 2005. He also sent me a copy of the original car invoice. It was purchased Jan 2, 1962 for $1792.95 in boston, MA. This will be included in the sale - I also did some further checking for someone else, the pan does match the body. From 2000 (107,000 miles) till present day (113,210 miles) which means only 6200 miles in 12 years. On Jul-31-12 at 18:49:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Also while looking over the sales invoice, the car has factory undercoating - Which has help preserve the underside, they did a good job with it.
