Vehicle Detail
Up for auction: My 1969 FIAT 850 Spider. I purchased it a little while back from a private seller (and FIAT fanatic) here in the Northwest. He had restored the vehicle himself and gave me an extensive list of the work he did. He rebuilt the brakes, went through the engine and had the cylinder head professional rebuilt. He had the gas tank removed and rebuilt (involves cutting in half, treating, welding back together, and resealing), he put in new carpet and seat covers, added in an aftermarket radio and more... Since I've had the vehicle I had the carburetor professionally rebuilt and had brand-new tires installed in February. I was told the rims on it are from a 124. The vehicle appears to have the original 60,000 miles on it as it is in great condition. It runs, drives, and stops very well (though I suspect rear brakes could use some adjusting to make braking a bit tighter). All gauges work as do all lights (passenger side headlight on low-beam will go in and out on its own but I typically keep it on the brights setting since the car is so low and small). The 903cc engine runs like a champ and has never missed a beat and will happily cruise at 70MPH. The trans-axle feels to be in good working order though it does have a small oil leak from where the axle meets the engine. The leak is so small though I've never addressed it. It is a 43-year-old FIAT, after all...Up in the front is the battery, spare tire, and tool kit. The body is in great shape. It doesn't seem to have any real rust issues, from what I can tell. I included a picture of the rocker panel for example. The windshield does have a rock chip in it, which I was told could be fixed fairly easily. Included with the vehicle is the hardtop (pictured), a soft top and a brand-new (still in the box) skin for the soft top. I will also include the original set of steel rims, a spare hood, a spare windshield wiper motor, several repair manuals (pictured) and a box containing extra gaskets, seals, etc. I will be sad to see this one go but I'd like to see it go to a home where she can get a bit more time on the road. Feel free to ask me any questions here on the site or call me (Nick) @ 503-805-8790. Serious inquiries only, please.
