NO RESERVE AUCTION For sale, 1981 Triumph TR7 convertible. 5 SPEED Transmission. I bought it 18 years ago in unrunning condition and did a fairly thorough restoration including transmission rebuild in 1994 (It actually won a trophy). Has been Garage kept since then. Engine was rebuilt in about 2005 and has less than 750 miles since that rebuild. There have been major changes in the last year: The fluky fuel injection was changed out for downdraft Webbers, a TSI head with performance cam was installed, a modern Blaupunkt radio with SD card/MP3 was installed, and just a few months ago RetroSport 15” alloy wheels and Kumho Ecsta AST 205/50R15 tires were installed. Factory paint stripes are still fresh in the tread. Old Lucas alternator was upgraded to modern high amp GM unit. Car also has a Mustang GT spoiler (for fun) to modernize the look. I spent about $2300 in upgrades in the last year. Top was newly installed during the 1995 rebuild and always garaged. It is still watertight, and looks decent though it is showing a bit of wear, especially where the door “A” window frames close on it. Interior is good, seats are good except for small wear/puncture in driver outer bolster (about the size of a pinky finger nail)...can't show because the seats have fully enclosed synthetic gray sheepskin covers and I don't want to uninstall them just to take a picture of the blemish. As for rust, none visible. There were a couple of spots when I bought it but they were treated/repaired and haven't come back. There is a patch or small bubbles in the paint on the right rear fender lip which showed up a couple of years after the repaint which might be rust underneath – but they are stable and haven't changed in 15 years... picture provided. Replacement parts for the TR7 are VERY easy to get through several mail order suppliers. After all of these upgrades...why am I selling it? Another project came along that I just couldn't pass up and I need the garage space. Considering it is 31 years old, this TR7 is in very good condition. I haven't seen another this nice for many many years. Has been driven about 14,000 miles in the last 18 years Current indicated mileage is 71251 miles. When I titled it in 1994, my SC title indicated an odometer anomaly...."exceeds mechanical limits" The history check tab shows this on several entries (surprisingly starting in 1997 as my title says 1994) The previous owner had a "clean" title odometer issued by SC a year earlier before I bought is - there is no way she put 100,000 miles on it in a year - especially since it had sit unused -undrivable for several months. I have personally rebuilt this engine and internally, what I found represented a 70K engine., so I am confident the mileage is close. If there is any concern, please call me on the issue. Again, rebuilt engine has about 750 miles on it and head about 200. I intend to advertize locally so I reserve the right to cancel the ad at any time if a local buyer accepts my buy it now price.** I have had several questions regarding its ability to make very long distance drives (like 2000-3000 miles). Mechanically, it should be able to. However, for those of you who are old enough to remember, these cars were not designed for long distance drives under harsh high temperature conditions we are seeing these days. They were designed for pleasurable motoring around town and in the countryside (England). Its perfect for being an in-town daily driver. Being a mechanic, I would attempt it. But remember, there are no repair shops on the interstate that can repair a 30 year old British car in a timely manner. I don't want to scare away buyers, but understand what you are asking this car to do. When you consider travel costs to come and pick it up, and motel costs/gas to get it back, and your time....shipping becomes reasonable. I want this to be a pleasurable buy for you 702-544-5240.
