Vehicle Detail

The vin number for this car is 6F08T299956. When it was new it only had a 6 cyl engine from the factory. My father purchased it in 1978 and it already had a V8 289 engine in it. The wheels have 5 lug nuts. If a factory car is what you are looking for, then this car is NOT for you. If you are looking for a project car that is in pretty good shape. . . read on. My father has had this 1966 289 Ford Mustang convertible since 1978. He puttered around to keep the car looking and running good. I would classify it as a project car since it needs things done to it to restore it to a greater luster. The car was housed in a garage since 1978 and was only driven on Sundays and in local parades. Since my fathers health has declined in recent years, the car has sat for a few years. I am now dealing with his estate. I recently had the fuel pump, master cylinder and front brakes replaced. I believe it is leaking some tranny fluid, so I would replace some seals. Probably could use some valve stem seals too since she smokes a little and leaks. If you like working on these old beauties, this one is for you. It just needs some TLC. The seats and carpet are in good condition, they could use a good detail job. The drivers seat has a small cut on the back of the seat. The convertible top is in good shape with the exception of a few spots that need to be cleaned. The radio antenna is broken off as you can see in the pictures. The passenger door binds a little and it would need some body work in a few areas, but isn't that all part of a restoration. . . . The tires have good tread, but I would recommend replacing them since they are old. There are some areas of scratches in the paint, and some areas have faded along the drivers door. I recommend some body work and a new paint job. It's in pretty good shape to begin a full restoration. You should probably pick it up with a trailer to get it to your place unless you are in Lincoln Nebraska. No power steering, no power brakes, no power top. Has had some work done underneath car from what I can see. The floor has not been replaced, the car is 46 years old. Has a rust spot the size of a dime around top/deck lid. Has had some body work on rear quarter panels which is typical on these cars. Radio works, windshield wipers work. Convertible top cover is in the trunk. Spare tire in trunk with scissor jack. Gas tank is solid, muffler looks good, trunk area does not have any holes.Buyer is responsible for picking up the car along with any expenses, full payment must be made within 3 days of auction end.
