Vehicle Detail
Well...I'm listing this wonderful little truck again as it was within $300 of my reserve and I actually had it sold (I thought) but buyer from local listing (didn't bid on ebay) must have died as I thought deal was finalized but then he quit calling or talking my calls?? So (his loss your gain) hear we go again... For the other bidders involved I know a couple of you contacted me but to be fair to everyone I feel it best to re-list and give everyone an equal chance. This seemed fair to me. Okay...You have seen the rest now buy the best!! This is truly a museum worthy Model T. This car was purchased by my father when I was but a little boy. We were living in Cypress Texas and I remember the day it was delivered to our house like yesterday...Oh how us kids loved to set in the back and we even had a song we would sing about “Little Red Truck”. Well nearly 45 years have passed since then. My kids also would sit in the back and sing the same song. So you ask why are you selling are you nuts...yes I think I am...my kids are now in College and Tuitions must be paid... I completely restored this car approx 15 or so years ago...it was a nut an bolt completely took her apart and spared no expenses. I actually restored it for my father but end back with the old gal. So here is the story...the cab was found in a barn in the 60's and was in excellent original shape. The back was there too but was in rough shape...so what they did was simply clean up the cab and they used all the original hardware (metal i.e. nuts, bolts, brackets...etc) and rebuilt the bed. So that is very cool. She's a true wood/tin cab from the 1920’s. It’s also cool that all the hardware was salvaged and used to build the back again. In the mid to late 80’s a tornado in Missouri hit the pole barn where my dad was storing her and the roof came down on her. During my restoration I rebuilt the upper part of the cab so that was a bummer but the rebuild was exact and proper. So approx I’d guess 3% to 5% of the upper (just the upper) cab is new and a portion of where the back roll up window or back of the cab...but make no mistake everything else (speaking about the cab) is original. I’ve showed the truck to a few Model T experts and all have told me the sheet metal is from the early to mid 20’s. I know the Truck isn’t 100% but she is very very close. One thing I love about the closed cab is the windows. There are 4 and they slide down in the pocket doors when opening them... It's amazing how simple yet functional this is!! Engine runs great (engine and tranny were completely rebuild during restoration)...I just rebuilt carb and she fired right up. Gear box (high/low and reverse) work perfect. Just changed the oil and lubed everything and drove her all over and everything seem to be working just fine. Couple of cool things to note: All over the truck you will find “F” (in fancy script) or “Ford” stamped everywhere on nearly everything Copper Oil Can in engine bay is real and works The Kerosene Lamps are completely original and work...I Love the back one with red and clear lens Original brass steering wheel and air/gas mixture valve Manual wiper is original Has 3 different horns...(1) horn on top of engine (2) a peddle operated “aluga” sorry about the spelling and (3) vintage correct like steam pipe horn that works off the exhaust (see picture)The sediment bowel (under the gas tank is original...see picture...even has Ford stamped in the brass) As I type this I’m really torn as to why I’m selling this wonderful family heirloom...I'm a very serious collector and this old truck started it all. I just sold (some of you might have watched the auction a 1931 Ford Deluxe Roadster...it sold for just over $32,000.00 and the new owner in TX couldn’t be happier). I only mention this because the same restoration shop that restored the ’31 also restored the Model T. I'm a serious collector and I'm as anal as can be about my cars... I love them and wish I could keep them all but with my kids in College now it's time to give a few up (tuition is very expensive). Now what is wrong with the car... NOT MUCH!!! there are a couple of small paint chips here and there but you don't even notice. Also were the gas has dripped from carb and over filling or missing the gas tank paint as wrinkled and flacked in a few areas under the truck or panel under the carb. Oh that’s another thing carb is original with little brass tag on it :-) I really recommend anyone who wants to come and and see this car. I'm less then an hour northeast of Atlanta, GA. Paint is in great shape...Deep wonderful Red with black pin striping. Wood spoke wheels are original too. New tires are in great shape. 6 volt system with new battery. I'm sure I'm leaving a TON out about this wonderful little red truck... MUCH nicer in person then pictures show. If you are a serious collector/buyer and want to discuss that’s fine. Please send me a message with your phone number and I'll call you. I love to talk cars. I know I've been all over the place with my description and have not done a very good job articulating...so my apologies. What I can say is if you love motoring then you will love this car. Now a couple of Housekeeping items: Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer... $500 deposit (PayPal) due 24 hours after auction ends with final payment due within 7 days. Car will not leave until funds clear my bank. I reserve the right to end auction at any time as I have several local person interested. All I ask is if you end up with my car you take care of her...!!! take your kids, Grandkids or Great Grandkids for rides and get them in touch with what Motoring was meant to be...good times...not just a way to get from point A to point B. I do know the market is soft for Model T's as many who love an respect them are dying and people just don’t want them anymore...that's sad and I hope there’s someone out there that will keep her alive and sputtering down the road for another 90+ years :-) I know there are plenty of you all out there so let the rest know when you come across this beauty. I can tell you my reserve is less then half of what it took to restore her!!! Bid with confidence...again I’m a very anal collector...YOU WILL NOT be disappointed! The only one who will be disappointed will be me :-( Truck will be transfered on notarized Bill of Sale... I have the original one from my father. Again...I'm sure I have left a lot off so if you want to ask questions I'll try to answer and post for others to view (if applicable) the best I can. Best Regards and happy motoring... CEH
