Vehicle Detail
For Sale is A 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook. I am selling due Age, and poor health situation. I purchased this car in 1990 and the car has been in a state of Amateur restoration until 2008. This is a fun car to drive, and really looks great. I am the second owner of the car. The Mileage on the Speedometer is 81,000(+) and I believe this to be actual Mileage. It had 79,000 miles on it when purchased. You just do not see any cars like it around here (NE-PA)----it really turns heads. This was a Frame-Off restoration project. The Frame was Stripped bare and repaired using 3/16" steel Plates welded into place. The car was Totally dismantled, stripped /repaired/rewired/ repainted. The Fuel and Brake lines were replaced with new. The Gas tank interior was Coated with fuel tank Liner (For Today's fuel), and a new sending unit was installed. The car was converted from 6v Neg ground to 12 V Positive ground ( with New Lights/wiring ). I used an Older version Mopar Alternator, which works nicely for this application. The restoration was completed during 2008 after the Local Body shop completed a 2- part Epoxy paint job. I did not get the doors and Trunk lid adjusted correctly prior to the painting, and now I'm afraid to even try to adjust them---HA. The Paint Job still shines great, but there are some blemishes. I had the Body Shop estimate A repair, and the cost was $500.00----But I never got around to getting it done. I have Most of the Original parts that came off the car, and these parts are also included in this sale. You should bring a trailer during pickup---just for all the parts that go with the car. (many of the parts are not even available anywhere). As you may have noticed----the front fenders are NOT the 1953 vintage originals. The are from a 1954 Plymouth. I could not locate a useable set of 1953 fenders, and the 54's are nearly identical (Different park Lights). The Motor was restored, and has approx 2000 Miles on it since. The Motor was Bored 0.060" oversize with New; Pistons, Rings, Bearings, Valves, Valve Guides, Valve Springs, Oil Pump, Fuel Pump, Timing Gears. There is a Small Oil Seep from the Rear Main Bearing----I cut the Seal a little to short during build-up. (Not Serious). A New Set of Points/Condenser was installed, and the fuel system drained, and fresh gas into the tank on 07/03/2012. The tires were purchased New and Installed during 2008. They have About 2000 miles on them and still look new--No Dry/Cracks, etc. The Interior (Headliner/Seat Covers/Carpeting) was replaced with new, but remember I am an Amateur, and it could have been done better at an upholstery shop. The Original AM Radio still plays. It is the old Vibrator type radio. There is also a 2 year old Sony AM/FM/CD Player installed. 2 days ago I was not able to get the FM radio to work (Not good reception at this location) but I did play the CD Player. Actually, The Sony radio is practically new, but I use is so little I can't remember which buttons to select to operate it--HA. Because of my current financial/health situation I cannot provide any type of Guarantee, or refund. Once purchased ---you own the vehicle. I Strongly recommend you inspect the car PRIOR to bidding on it. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have about the car. Payment is $500.00 Down-payment with pay Pal at the close of the Bid, and the balance payable in cash at pickup.
