Link to many more photos Fully Restored 1969 MGBGT This is a recently completed, ground up restoration which took nearly a year to complete (currently less than 100 miles on it) There are cars for sale that claim to be restored but are primarily cosmetic, this is a true ground up restoration. In the last 30 years, I have restored a lot of MG's and this will probably be the last since I will be concentrating on maintaining and racing my Mini Cooper. This California car received the following during this restoration... The body was completely stripped down and virtually every nut and bolt removed. The body was in excellent shape with no major rust and only minor damage to front right fender. The body was painted the original Primrose Yellow using PPG paint and given a clear coat finish. The entire underbody was sprayed with undercoating to protect against rust and also help with sound deadening. The front subframe was completely disassembled, sand blasted and repainted. The rear axle was disassembled, sand blasted and repainted. All of the suspension pieces have been sand blasted and repainted. The suspension has been completely rebuilt with new bushings and bearings where needed, including new shocks. All the steel brake and fuel lines have been blasted and repainted. The entire brake system was replaced including new wheel cylinders, shoes and hardware, new rubber brake lines, front calipers rebuilt with new pads and new master cylinder. The fuel tank was sent out for a boil out and then repainted. Also a new sending unit was installed and a new SU fuel pump with new steel braided lines where required. The rear end received new axle bearings and seals. The drive shaft has been rebuilt with new u-joints and repainted. Transmission was disassembled, inspected and received new bearings where needed and new seals and gaskets. Clutch system has been completely rebuilt with new clutch kit, new master cylinder, new slave cylinder and new hose. Now on to the engine: The original engine was completely rebuilt with the following parts and machining: Block bored .20 over with new pistons and rings, crank polished, rods reconditioned, new cam and lifters, head received complete valve job, flywheel surfaced, all new bearings, new water pump, rebuilt alternator, rebuilt distributor with petronix ignitor (no points to mess with), radiator rebuilt. Motor balanced and runs very smooth and still not broken in yet. Both carbs fully rebuilt including new bushings and seals. Steering rack was rebuilt with new tie rod ends. INTERIOR: A complete new Moss Motors Kit was installed with new carpets, seat kits, all new panels, new headliner, new dash (not just an overlay). All gauges removed and restored. A new remote contral stereo with 2 speakers in rear. The heater system was rebuilt. Every single piece of rubber was replaced inside and out, bumpers are new and so are some of the other chrome pieces and trim pieces, all have been polished . New rocker sill covers with MG logo added. Wire Wheels were blasted and powder coated with new Kumo tires. In the process of restoration, every part of the car was addressed, it was either painted, plated or polished and almost every nut and bolt replaced. As you can see by the pictures, this is a real deal restoration with over 1000 hrs of time invested. I went to the extent of getting the British Motor Heritage Certificate to show this is a correct numbers car. I have receipts to prove that there is over $12,000.00 in parts invested. If you know what it cost to restore or have one done by a reputable shop, you can realize the value of this car. Restoration of this caliber would probably be in the area of $30,000 to $40,000. I'm selling this beautiful show ready GT for approximately half of what it would cost you, so why bother? You won't have to wait 1 - 2 years to start enjoying it. Since this is the 50th anniversary of the MGB, you can own a piece of history now. So if you are looking for a fully restored MGBGT, then you will recognize this car for the price.
