Vehicle Detail
1969 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Toyota FJ40 restoration shop thinning inventory. I offer this 69 FJ40 as a running/driving mild project. This FJ is mechanically excellent, no serious rust, perfect start for a mild restoration, or enjoy as is. I bought this FJ in the high desert of south eastern Oregon, planned to restore and sell, but have too many in line right now, a good chance to get a good FJ at a reasonable price. This auction is no reserve, bid to buy. I have a few other FJ’s coming up for sale, brief description at the bottom of this add. I do not have the time to do any additional work to this 69 FJ, being sold as is, I installed all the parts I had from my collection to make this a complete vehicle. Pre 75 FJ40’s are a must for states which require emissions; model year 69 is exempt in all 50 states the last time I checked. MECHANICAL This FJ40 has the stock original inline 6 motor which runs excellent. Looks to have been rebuilt at some point, compression is excellent, no burning oil, will last quite long. The stock carburetor runs well. The transmission is the stock 3 speed “on the tree” shifts excellent. Stock transfer case works perfectly. Stock drum brakes stop well; the exhaust is fine, newer shocks. I do not see any significant leaks anywhere meaning no huge puddles on the concrete, no strange noises from mechanical components. I drove this FJ 35 miles today, goes down the road nicely. BODY This FJ40 is not rusted like most. I drove 450 miles to get this one, they are hard to find non-rusty, but this is the most important consideration when buying any 40. Looks solid all the way around, of course there may be surface rust here and there, and perhaps some small spots of rust here and there but the body is in excellent condition speaking FJ40. The rear fenders are not cut out which is a must for a stock type FJ. Good wheels and tires with good tread. I installed every missing part on this vehicle from my vast parts collection except two things I did not have, 1 the driver door flip out vent glass, 2 the rear hatch glass (cracked). Both easily purchased used from SOR or glass shop can cut for cheap. Also, I did not spray primer all over this truck to make it look better, I left the original paint panels that way, the tub was primed years ago to prevent rust. The top and doors were in storage for a couple decades. There is a Man A Fre roll bar installed as this year did not get one from the factory, I also included the stock rear long jump seats which will not work with the roll bar. This is a mild project meaning it will need tinkering and cosmetic work. You can drive it while you restore it, I’ve gone over all the major components, fixed any issue my techs saw while it spent 3 days in my shop, but that does not mean it’s ready for interstate reliable travel. I drove it 35 miles without a hitch, but please don’t ask me if you should drive it across the US, that is ridiculous for any FJ40. This is not the typical high dollar restoration I offer for sale, please keep that in mind. I get questions all the time about lower end more economical FJ40’s for sale, well here it is. I have a clean clear OR state title in hand for this vehicle in the PO’s name. It is signed not dated or sale priced, will transfer title and BOS directly to you. I can title it in my name; wait 8 weeks to get it back from the state, but much easier this way. If you want me to title it and wait 8 weeks, the truck must be paid for and there will be an additional $500 in fees. FJ40’s are one of the few vehicles you can invest money in and actually get it back out when you sell it and move on. Pretty paint and cosmetics are what sell, so if you have the time and or ability to put a decent paint job and do a few things, this is easily a mid 20k LandCruiser. I welcome any 3rd party inspection during the auction. I own Auto Appraisals & Pre-Buy Inspections so skip me when looking in the phone book. I require a $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal directly after auction is over, the rest in cashier’s check, bank to bank wire transfer, or direct deposit to US Bank within 7 days closed auction. I have a shipping broker whom has done perfect for me the last 65 shipments, I put you in contact with him with quote, all shipping monies paid to him, I don’t charge for that. I will work with your shipper as well if necessary. IF you have less than 5 feedback you must send me your phone # before clicking that BIN button, too many issues with newbies in the past, I realize everyone needs to start somewhere, but please don’t waste my time, these auctions take a lot of work. I prefer to be 100% up-front; you are buying from the FJ40 resto shop business owner, not a used car salesman that knows nothing about FJ40’s. Other FJ40’s coming up for sale on eBay 1983 FJ40 1 of 300 imported to US, 1 of the 30 that came with factory AC/PS. I bought it 99.8% rust free from the Original Owner’s family in New Mexico. Museum quality much better than stock restoration will be done in 1-2 weeks. The most desired FJ40 on the planet with a high end resto, I would say it’s safe to claim the nicest and most sought after FJ40 in existence. Investment grade, serious collector, high dollar vehicle. Will be listed on eBay in 1-2 weeks at $78,000 OBO. I had the sister 83 PS/AC FJ40 to this one from the same family, restored it and now lives in Hollywood, never got a chance to offer it for sale, sold mid-restoration. Point is, this is not a make me a deal truck. IF you are a serious collector and know the value of this truck, please ask me more, I’m glad to tell you about it. 1975 FJ40 with a SBC, TH 400, 33’s, PTO winch, 4W disc brakes, PWR Steer, hard top and doors, no rust, nice restoration either airbrush camo paint or red/white. Will be in the mid-high 20’s when finished. 3-4 months out. I will sell it as is for $12,000, needs paint and a few things, running driving as is with 15k worth of upgrades. 1972 FJ40 with fuel injected V6, TH 350 trans, 33’s, roof rack, hard top and doors, expedition type vehicle with airbrush Camo, no rust. Nice restoration, mid 20’s. 3-4 months out. Few other extra parts I have for sale. 77 FJ40 mint frame with VIN tags and clean clear title in my name $750 picked up here. Two sets of stock 76 and 78 FJ40 axles disc brake fine spline vented rotor from stock vehicles F & R axle $700, will only sell 1 set. Core 78 2F motor $200. Will not ship that stuff. I'm looking for high end tools and or shop equipment and perhaps other items, can't hurt to ask. I'd prefer trades be local, but will entertain long distance stuff. I can deliver this vehicle at $2.00 a loaded mile up to 300 miles from BC, vehicle must be paid for first, or on a good trade free delivery.
