Vehicle Detail

You are viewing an all original (except for the hub caps...they came off a 1986 Dodge Diplomat Police Cruiser) 1963 Dodge Dart 170 with a 170 cubic inch Slant 6, pushbutton automatic with 64,750 miles. This car needs the engine wiring harness and ignition (distributor, wires, coil) replaced in order to run. There was a small electrical fire under the hood (the heat from it cracked the brand new windshield) because I installed an alternator that was too hot. Before this happened this little car ran like a dream...really. It was more dependable than our '99 Suburban! The transmission shifted precise and firm and the engine started immediately, never ran hot, and could easily go highway speeds no problem as well as sit in traffic. Currently the engine turns over freely by hand. I used to have the broadcast sheet that I found behind the back seat, but over the years it got misplaced. I do remember reading that this car came "special ordered" with front and rear arm rests, back-up lights, and a heater! And it is also an original 'radio delete' car. It's also got some kind of lock-out prevention....when locking and closing the doors, upon shutting them they will unlock automatically unless you hold the button in. I do have locate the original Owners Manual (I removed it from the glove box for safe keeping), and I have the original keys...not copies. There are new trunk seals, new fuel tank/sending unit installed as well. All original trim is intact, and nothing is rusted through in this car. Even the factory undercoating is still there. No creaks, squeaks or moans when I was driving it either. The doors open and close fine and the hood closes effortlessly. This Dart, with the 170, got around 20-22 mpg. As you can see, the interior needs attention and the body is not perfect. There's some body work that shows on the passenger rear quarter. The rear seat is in nice shape and is what you would use to match the fabric for the fronts. EVERY gauge was in perfect working order before the electrical mishap under the hood. The hood insulation is still intact and not burned through. I noticed I nevre removed the battery which can be seen in one of the pics. The electrical short melted the battery. The short traveled via the negative cable to the starter. The positive cable still looks new...go figure. So..."battery not included", lol. And yes, those are original hub caps in the trunk. I am selling simply because I have lost interest and time. My new career keeps me away 5 days a week and home only on the weekends. I do have a reserve, but it's extremely low. When this car was in running order, it Blue-booked at around $4,000 and yes, I know it won't go for that so I am not pipe dreaming. I have set the reserve to sell the car, though I do have a minimum. The auction winner will be responsible for shipping/towing. I will accept Bank drafts/Cashier's Checks, Money Orders, and personal or company checks HOWEVER------If paying by check (no matter the format), I will release the car only when the check CLEARS. Please re-read and understand that. No wire transfers; if you win, you will get the car...no worries. I reserve the right to relist this vehicle if payment is not received within 7 days of auction end. This does not include the time it takes for your check to clear, it merely means that if I don't receive payment within 7 days of auction end I will be relisting. And I'm not going to do the "immediate deposit" angle. I realize it's difficult to take someone's word for it when an ad states the vehicle will run again once "such and such" are repaired. I have owned and loved this car for the past 13 years. This is truly a solid car and a joy to drive. I'm not some kid trying to unload it. I actually had big plans for it through Clifford Performance in the way of a new Slant 6 that would have 300 hp and 400+ ft lbs tq. Oh yes. Just call them and ask about that engine. Time goes by and priorities change. My loss, your gain. I will take a picture of the owner's Manual and will post it here. If I am unable to then I will gladly email it to you upon request. Good luck and happy bidding! Any questions, just ask...
