1957 Olds Super 88 with Rare factory J2 tripower v8 engine.

In 1957 oldsmobile offered the rocket v8 engine. From some research I did, a mid year option was the J2 package which featured 3 carbs and some engine interorior modifcations. The J2 motor had a ten to one compression ration and was rated at three hundred horsepower at a additional cost. A second rare J2 package which was not recommended for street use and sold mostly to drag and stock car racers was offered on a limited bases. I am not sure which of these two packages are on this car. I am assuming it is the first option as it could be ordered on any oldsmobile model in 1957 for an additional $83. (documentation showing this data and information will be included in this sale) The standard transmission in 1957 was a three speed manual on both 88 models. the Jetaway hydramatic was standard on the nintey eight and optional on the eighty eight. This car has the hydramatic. it also has the optional power steering, heater and defroster, delux radio, back up lights, padded dash, power brakes, clock, and many other options. I have known of this car for 10 years and have been trying to buy it. The previous owner sold it to me in november of 2011. His intention was always to restore it but he never got around to it. I went to his heated garage where this super 88 has been stored and started by rebuilding one carborator, disconnecting the other two( two carb kits are included) I made sure the fluids where good, I put a new battery in, primed the carb and it fired right up. To my surprise after letting it run for 5 minutes, there was no leaks, no knocks, no misses, and no smoke. I pulled it out of the garage and took it for a one mile drive on a gravel road. It shifted all gears the way it should. I took it up to 50 mph and it steered true the way it should. The brakes stopped the car. In my opinion only the left front brake was working. This car mechanically in my opinion should have the brakes redone, new tires put on, and the other two carbs rebuilt and syncronized. The linkage on the carbs all work. I am missing one of the air cleaners that go on one of the carbs( easy find) The paint is original with no bondo and no rust through. The chrome is original and in my opinion, in very good condition. My pictures will show the worse areas I found for any surface rust or chrome blemishes. The interior is the original interior and should have a new interior put in. The floor pans in the front should be replaced or fixed. The rears look good. The trunk floor is solid and all of the guages and idiot lights including the speedometer work except the gas guage which I cant tell if it is working or not as I ran the car off an auxillary gas tank. It has the original hub caps. When I bought the car, I made sure that the numbers are matching and that the title and registration was current. It comes with a clean and clear wisconsin title. The pictures show any crack in the glass, all are easliy fixable flat glass. All glass is there. I was told it was a two owner car. I was told that the original owner lived in Illinois, and the second owner lived in iron ridge wisconsin. This olds super 88 could be kept original paint with a new interior kit and be well shown in any car show, car club, parade, or as a daily driver. You could also take this car to the next level and have a very rare car. I am now selling this car due to a new project I have taken on. I do not want to overcall this car or undercall this car.
