Hello Ebayers , Here we have a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle . This car has been in storage for the last few years and as you can easily tell , it just doesnt fit in with the theme of things around here ha ha , Kinda like the old sesame street song " one of these things is not like the others" The little car has its problem areas but over all it is a nice running little car , i drive it every now and then but it does have some problem areas. Years ago the car was bought as a basket case by a gentleman who put it together for his Daughter to drive back and fourth to college which was about a mile from thier home . When it was first done there was a list made of everything that was replaced , here is that list Rebuilt engine , new clutch , pressure plate , new muffler , new heat exchangers , new outer tie rod ends , new brake shoes , new master cylinder , new front brake hoses and shoes nd new chrome wheel rings , new front fenders , new bumpers , paint , fender seals , new front glass seal , rear glass seal , new chrome side mouldings , new hrome horn grills, rock gaurds , outside mirror , running boards , headliner , door panels , new quarter panels , carpet , floor mats , chrome trim , inner and outer door glass scrapers , seat belts , heater cable door seals , new voltage regulator , electric windshield washers and a 12 volt conversion now keep in mind this was done around 15 years ago so alot of the things will need fixed , Door panels need new backer boards and to be restretched and stapled , driver seat has some rips , the paint still looks good but it has its share of chips and a few spots that need touchup . I believe the fuel gauge needs a new sender or a short in the wire tracked down , the passenger side window needs a new regulator, the brakes need bled " i may do that before the aution ends " and the battery doesnt like to keep a charge after i let it sit for a few days . There is rust starting in front of the rear fenders and it is bubbling the paint " see pictures" , and while it was in storage in the previous owners garage someone shot the rear fender " see pics " Also the rear floor pans ive noticed are showing rust , especiall the passenger side but the good news is i found new floor pan quarters here on ebay for 24 dollar per quarter so you can put the new pans in for 100 dollars bill . The current ones have been patched with fiberglass and are fine for a driver. But on the good note , the car still looks very nice , the fixes it needs is minor stuff and could be completed in a weekend . It runs and drives down the road nice " ive not had it out on the highway" just on country roads.She has been in storgae for a few years so some fixing should be expected. It is just an all around nice little car. I know i emphasize on the bad points of it but i dont like showing up to buy a car only to be met with surprises and i dont want my buyer to have any surprises . The car comes with the full size spare and rim and the factory jack . i was told the engine is a 1500 single port and the transmission is a 4spd. As you can tell from my picture , im a Chevy guy and this is the first volkswagen thats ever been up my driveway . Bought it for the wife to tool around in and to be honest , i just dont know enough about them . I like old Chevys so ill put her behind the wheel of the pink 55 chevy and send the bug down the road to fund some new parts for the 55 gasser. Im going to start the price at what i think is a cheap price with no reserve so bid to own . Car must be picked up at my location in Shelbyville IL , i can help with a shipping company if need be . I went out thisevening to bleed the brakes . I noticed that the right rear wheel cylinder is leaking . Like i said , sitting idle for a few years can dry out things so i know that will need fixed . And i had a gentleman ask me about the number at the bottom of the generator stand , it is 9445075 , He guessed it to be a 1200 cc 1965 engine . I dont know volkswagens so i now im not sure . The previous owner told me it was a 1500 engine . if there are any other numbers or areas anyone would like me to check just let me know and ill take a look.
