Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1972 Ford F-100 Pickup. I am the 3rd owner of this vehicle. I have the original dealer invoice and correspondence between the Ford dealership in Seminole Texas and the original owner who purchased it and had it shipped to Tucson Arizona where it lived until 2006 when I purchased it and moved it to the Phoenix area (Gilbert, AZ). I purchased this truck with plans to restore it but haven't had the time. It has been garaged for 5 of the six years I have owned it. This truck is mostly original condition. The prior owner had it repainted in 2004 (factory Bay Roc Blue) and had the front bumper re-chromed as well as the front windshield replaced. Shortly after I purchased this truck I had a small engine fire caused by a sticking float in the carburetor. As a result, I replaced the carburetor, alternator, starter solenoid, battery, all vacuum and raditor hoses, spark plugs and wires and had the valve covers and air cleaner housing sand blasted and repainted. I took great care to get factory correct replacements where possible. The ONLY remaining visible signs of this fire is the hood which needs to be replaced due to warping. About a year ago I put four brand new tires that have less than 200 miles. As you see in the pictures this truck is in good original condition. Being a 100% Arizona vehicle, there is no rust on the body panels and nothing more than surface rust on the undercarriage in addition, I have a lot of original documentation including the dealer invoice (window sticker) original factory build sheet, coorespondence between the dealer and original owner confirming the order. I also have many of the original receipts and maintenance records for this vehicle, all making this an EXCELLENT candidate for restoration. Mechanical Condition This truck starts easily and runs and drives but is not used as a daily driver. KNOWN ISSUES: There is currently a leak coming from one or two of the u-joints in the drive shaft (see pictures) and the transmission has a slow leak where the shift linkage connects to it. I have not had a mechanic inspect the u-joints but I did have a transmission shop look at the transmission leak and was told it would have to be completely torn-down since there isn't an access panel on the '72's (I guess that was added in '73). He quoted me $600 to fix but I opted to not go ahead since it is such a slow leak and I wasn't sure what I was going to do restoration wise. There is also a slow drain on the battery that I have not attempted to nail down (I have simply been unplugging the battery terminal to avoid draining the battery). It should also be noted that the paint job the prior owner had done looks good from about 5 feet away but up close you can see small cracks in the paint (see pictures). There are likely other issues with the vehicle that I am not aware of as this is a 40 year old vehicle. The list of known issues is not intended to be an all-inclusive list, rather an honest appraisal of issues known to me at the current time. Since I am not going restore this vehicle any time soon I am selling it so it can go to someone who will give it the attention it deserves. Terms and Conditions of Sale: A non-refundable deposit of $500 must be made within 48 hours of auction end (through PayPal), and the balance must be paid within 10 days (via Certified Check (verified) or Cash Paid in Person). All costs and arrangements for pick up/transport and delivery will be the responsbility of the bidder/buyer. The truck must be picked up in Gilbert, Arizona. I can store the truck for a reasonable amount of time (i.e. 30 days) until pickup arrangements can be made, if needed, but exchange of funds and title must be completed within 10 days of auction end. I have tried to be thorough in my description of this vehicle and the pictures provided but if more information is needed, please contact me. A phone number can be provided if necessary. Thanks for your interest.
