Vehicle Detail

Beautiful and rare 1969 Pontiac Catalina Convertible, only 5436 vehicles produced. This is a numbers-matching car! Dark Blue with black interior. Recent paint with original Liberty Blue Poly color. Very nice driver quality exterior, good interior condition, great dash and streering wheel condition, and bumpers are in nice shape. This car is insured, registered, inspected and on the road, completely driveable. Features: Automatic transmission, power steering, AM/FM with verbra-phonic stereo. Has A/C, but it was never converted and needs charging. Front and rear bench seats. Four Rally II's on car, with a 5th available for the spare. ORIGINAL 400ci premium "YD" engine, 290 HP runs very well, was rebuilt 7-8 years ago by a previous owner, less than 10k miles since then. Car runs and drives, is mechanically sound. Specifications: 10.5:1 compression ratio 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic M-40 automatic transmission 2.73 gear ratio Wheelbase 122" Length 217.5" Almost all original, upgrades include: electronic ignition, Holley 600cfm 1850-8 4bbl carb, dual exhaust, and Edelbrock Pontiac Performer intake manifold. Other than that this car is very original. Estimated 320HP with upgrades. Comes with car cover. Interior - This car originally had a blue interior. I changed it 4 years ago to a nice black interior that I got from another 69 catalina convertible, because the black is more attractive and desirable, and the blue interior had faded to several different shades of blue. The seats are in pretty good condition, the vinyl is not too brittle, it does not crack easily, still supple. The only tears on the seats are under the driver, a couple of tears along the seam. The seatbacks and headrests are all good. The carpet is okay, but could use replacement since it is very inexpensive and easy to do. The dash has no cracks. The door panels are mostly good, except for the very bottom of the drivers door panel which has some cracks. Convertible Top - it is mechanically sound, goes up and down. However, the condition of the original vinyl is only fair. Also, it is white. It should be be replaced, along with new pads and weatherstripping. The boot cover is okay, is original, but some of the plastic tabs are broken. Body and Rust - 3 years ago the car was stripped and repainted. The car was never a rust bucket, just had some normal rust and some rust-thru around the wheel wells in a few spots. All holes (there weren't many) were replaced with metal. The undercarriage is solid. Floor pans were solid before and are solid now, I never had to touch them. Trunk was blasted and repainted, but was solid anyway. Mileage - When I got the car in 2006 it had 43k on the odometer, and the seller claimed it was only 43k. The Kansas title did not indicate that it was in excess of mechanical limits or unknown. So the current MA title says 43k miles, does NOT indicate that it is in excess of mechanical limits, and does not indicate that it is unknown. So technically it is 45k (now) original miles according to the state of MA, and maybe it's true. But I cannot guarantee you that without a doubt it is only 45k original miles. I really don't know the 43 year history of the car that I've had for 6 years. I've just had fun driving it and working on it as a nice driver quality car that could perhaps be taken to another level and be a great show car. Tires/Wheels - Firestone 421 all season whitewall, good condition, plenty of tread left. Rally II center caps and trim rings - these are reproductions, not original center caps. One cap is missing, as shown in the pics. All wheels have chrome lugs with black centers. Also included in the sale: New trunk mat and trunk side panels. I think I have a set of NOS door edge guards, will include with sale if I can find them. Original Pontiac jack, jack stand and lug wrench included. Cover included with a bag that holds the cover. The cover is in good shape, but does have a couple of small tears. On May-14-12 at 05:51:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Note that the Rally II wheels are NOT reproductions, they are real Rally II's. It is the trim rings and center caps that are aftermarket reproductions. Item is being relisted after close of a successful auction. The previous auction's buyer "changed his mind" and backed out within 24 hours and did not pay the deposit, so the car is now re-listed with the same terms. There are 5 seatbelts. They are visually the same belt type, color, button, etc. But not all of them are the original '69 seatbelts from the black interior, I only got a couple of seatbelts with the black interior and had to add a few off of Ebay along the way. Some are 1970 or 71 belts that are basically the correct belt, they look right, but aren't the original "date code" for that car. Please don't make any assumptions about the car's parts, condition, etc, ask questions instead. NOTE: The car is also for sale locally in my area, and I reserve the right to cancel this auction prior to the end, if the car is sold locally.
