1969 Westy1969 Westfalia Pop Top Camper with New interior. https://picasaweb.google.com/101192954511940516242/1969Westy02?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCJqWkL-98_KElAE&feat=directlink This vehicle was found behind a bar in Tacoma February 1st .THIS WAS ORIGINALLY A SPRAY CANNED BLUE TRANSPORTER SO ANY BLUE TRANSPORTER PICTURES YOU SEE ARE THIS PEARL WHITE TRANSPORTER BEFORE IT WAS BROUGHT BACK TO OG PAINT 2 MONTHS AGO and brought back to life. This vehicle has been kept as Original as possible. NEW GERMAN TENT, NEW INTERIOR CUSHION COVERS AND FRONT COVERED SEATS .WEST COAST VEHICLE. VERY CLEAN. It was spray canned blue with a ripped up tent. Resolution: I have stripped off the blue paint to reveal the Pearl White original paint. Brand new $400 german 3 window tent was purchased and installed. This tent shouldn't be confused with the non-german cheap $219-$379 tent installed on some of these auction vehicles, the cheaper ones rip so be aware. This tent is German and durable.(busdepot.com) There was a dent in the back fender and the battery trays were rusted out. Resolution: Corners were replaced with metal by a 78 year old metal fabricator and teacher at the Clackamus Oregon community college. Interior cushions were trashed and some were missing. Resolution: All interior cushions were reupholstered. Those cushions that were missing were recreated in the Westfalia design. The floorcovering was missing showing the bare metal. (rust free by the way). Resolution: New Walnut style vinyl flooring was installed. Front seats were trashed. Resolution: Front seats were completely reupholstered off-white in color by a really incredibly good reupholsterer. There is some surface rust on the front floor in front of driver's seat and passenger seat. This was treated with "rust be gone" which transforms the rust into a paintable surface and changes / stops rust in it's tracks. see pix.OG floor is very solid. The only surface rust has been taken care of while keeping the og floor in tact. The !600 dual port engine hadn't been run since early 90s, so we had a certified mechanic go over the whole engine, also giving it a tune up and oil change was basically all the little bus needed. Front brakes were done and wheel cylinders. Wilma runs real smooth now. The ignition switch was not working so we rebuilt it and now it works fine. Runs and Drives great. Front cracked windshield glass was replaced with another used piece of glass.Looks good. The channel was cleaned out while the window was out and the dash was painted. .Metal in nose is all there and very solid. no rust. Very straight bus. There is a brand new rear bumper from busdepot.com not installed because on the west coast it's cooler running them without bumpers. you can install it if you'd like. RV deep cell brand new battery included. What this means to you is unlike other batteries, this one can be recharged many times without the battery dying. Regular batteries sometimes die after only 5 recharges. Westfalia kitchen cabinet and sink is in rough condition and since the coolers on all of the Westfalias from 1968-1971 require a bag of ice to keep things cool, and are not plug in at all, I am leaving it out of the interior. Takes up too much space. I would recommend installing a small refridge from Walmart, Target or K-mart and an inverter since you already have an RV battery.Very nice bus and low reserve. If a poptop doesn't have the rubber around it, you should get it or you will get water inside. Mine has new rubber installed all around the pop top and luggage rack so rain is not an issue with mine.
