Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1963 Ford Falcon Futura convertible project car. This car is in need of a complete and total restoration. According to the VIN decoder I used online, the car was originally a V8 (260 engine) with an automatic transmission. However, at some point someone must have converted the transmission, as there is now a clutch/brake pedal assembly in the car. There is now no engine, transmission, radiator, or driveshaft at all. Any size small block Ford (260, 289, 302, 5.0L) will bolt in place when you get to that point. Pick your poison. This is not an eBay “all the hard work is done” restoration project. This is a project for someone who knows how to weld, wants to learn how to weld, or has a buddy who can weld and owes them a bunch of favors. The floor pans will need complete replacement. The trunk floor will need to be reworked or replaced. The inner rockers are about 75% solid, but will need some attention. Other areas of the front and rear frame rails will not need replaced, but will need to be fully evaluated and likely need some level of attention. The good things: there is enough structure left to maintain the integrity of the vehicle and give you points to measure from. The back of the rear frame rails are intact and holding the leaf springs (not rusted and poking through truck, like 60’s Fords are known to do). The convertible cross member/seat support is in place and solid, but will need a little bit of attention. The front frame rails and aprons are relatively solid. The door gaps are even, and the doors can be opened (often these 50 year old convertibles are so far gone that opening the doors will fold the car in half – not the case here). The windshield has a crack, but the other six windows (vents, doors, rear quarter) are good. The stainless steel windshield trim is still in place. All major body panels are repairable. The quarter panels are the worst of the bunch, and will need lower patch panels for sure. These and many other parts are available from a variety of suppliers. The original radio, heater box, glove box, and instrument panel are still installed. The car comes with front seats, but not the original bench seat. They look like Mustang buckets. Also included are correct rear seat frames, but they are just metal frames. All soft trim (top, door panels, etc.) are a total loss. The car is equipped with manual steering and 4 wheel manual drum brakes. The rear end is believed to be the original one, and the front and rear 5-lug parts are still in place. The car currently has 3 matching rims with tires which will hold air long enough to roll onto a trailer, and one donut tire which will not hold air. The power convertible top is still in place, including the frame, cylinders, hoses, motor, and switch. The mechanical condition of these items is unknown. Plan to rebuild them. Plan to rebuild everything… Make no mistake – this is a huge restoration project, but a do-able one. I have seen worse cars returned to their former glory, but it is not for the weak of heart. It is a cheap start to a fun and affordable convertible restoration project. No, it does not start. No, you cannot drive it home. You are starting with most of the convertible specific items in hand, but with a lot of work in front of you. There is a fine line between being honest and scaring people away. I hope I haven’t crossed it, but please know that you’re getting into a big job. I simply have three project cars that I am juggling in a two car garage, and something has to go. Otherwise, I would revive her myself. Data plate details: · Body: 76A · Color: A · Trim: 55A · Date: 08C · DSO: 64 · Axle: 4 · Trans: 3 · VIN: 3H15FXXXXXX Mississippi does not require a title for cars before 1969 (although they are optional). I will provide a bill of sale, and can provide a prior bill of sale and registration. In Mississippi, this and a trip to the highway patrol for VIN verification will get you a title if desired. For out of state buyers, please know your requirements on titling. I will work with you if I can to help you acquire a title, but I can guarantee only a bill of sale without knowing your specifics. Payment is due within 7 days of the auction end. I will provide a bill of sale as soon as funds are verified (or cash in hand). Arrangements need to be made to pick the vehicle up as soon as possible – again, I will work with you on this. Thanks for bidding.
