We are selling our 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle. It started life as an "Epilogue Edition", triple black convertible. It was a special trim line, used the last year the Beetle was manufactured. We decided to paint the outside the 1959 VW Bahama Blue, along with bringing it back to original condition. It was completed in the fall of 2010 and has about 1,000 miles on it since. She is very reliable--most areas of the car were either rebuilt with new components or replaced. But we tried to keep it original as much as we could with the original parts. Starts every time, has plenty of pep, and is a real joy to drive. Here in SC, you can drive it with the top down 9 months out of the year. Condition:Overall great condition. Body is solid with no rust through, No frame or body pan issues. Under body is solid. Painting was done Fall 2010.Engine has new seals, dual carb setup installed, flame thrower distributor, HD spark wires and NGK plugs. Sounds and runs great. Top is new with new upper window rubbers and stainless hardware. Tires are all new Continental on chrome rims. 155 up front and 195 in rear. Great California stance. Brakes new all around with Ghia disc brakes added up front--stops on a dime. New master cylinder and rubber lines. Park brake holds on a hill. All lights and electronics work, except for in-dash factory analog clock. New accelerator cable installed. Shift linkages rebuilt with all new bushings and coupler. Shifts tight and quick. Front end rebuilt with adjustable TopLine struts and shocks. Lowered 2" with new wheel bearings, sway bar bushings and disc brake setup. Cruises great at any speed. No shimmies, darting or pulling.PioneerAM/FM CD player with MP3/iPod connections. Comes with remote. Replaced rear lap seatbelts with shoulder belts so the kids could ride along!The speedometer read 43,964 when we bought it, and it still does. The VW speedometer uses plastic gears that get brittle and break. Mileage is unknown. There is one small tear on the driver seat left side near the top, see photos. A couple of small paint chips. I have original touch up paint for these. The inner layer of the windshield near the defrost is swirled from heat. No issue but it is visible. Some pitting on the chrome bumpers. They are original. We have tried to show all aspects of the VW. If you want more photos just ask. We have several boxes of parts and such that will go with. Stuff from the restore, use it or sell it. Ready to ride with oil changed, engine tuned, valves adjusted and all electronics and lights checked. Please feel free to come by to see and drive before auction ends. It bolts under the front and allows the beetle to be flat towed anywhere. Can have installed if you need to tow. I do have a boot for the top. Black that goes with the bid. Its in good condition but has two small tears and is stiff. The tires have about 1000 miles since new and no signs of wear. Also several boxes of parts that where either take offs or replacement. Some new and some old.
