Vehicle Detail
Fine running classic FJ-80 with extras. History: I'm the 3rd owner, the first two owners live in Nebraska. The first owner put most of the miles on it. While the second owner put few miles on it, he installed the front ARB bumper, Old Man Emu lift and a Magnum 9K winch. First owner also did a lot on the front end at 124K miles: replaced left axel, steering bearings and races, knuckle seals and re-packed, polished outer axel housing balls, repacked wheel bearings. He also replaced the air flow meter with a used one and adjusted throttle linkage and cable, replaced the alternator, replaced valve cover gasket and adjusted valves The FJ has had extensive work done in the last two years. While there was minimal rust, what was there was removed. The vehicle was repainted (there are a couple before shots to show that there is nothing hidden), and the interior was reupholstered. This FJ handles great. Tight turning radius (I owned a Chevy Avalanche, and the FJ is much easier to handle), very comfortable ride, quiet, and corners flat - none of that tippy feeling. The FJ isn't a speed demon, but it will go all day. When I was in Wyoming I'd take to a hidden area that is over 9,000 feet above sea level. I never feared that it would leave me stranded, and it never did. I have a couple of pics of it when it was getting repainted: if you'd like to see them, send me a note and I'll forward them. The body shop also did an undercoating, which seemed to make it even quieter. The FJ-80 notebook has a lot of the receipts and some manuals. The third row passenger side seat isn't installed, as the trunk installation uses the area where the floor pin goes, but the seat is included with the truck. Oil/grease/5 tire rotation were done every 3K miles Can't post all the pics, so to see more, please see the video on YouTube: FJ-80 Landcruiser.MOV (eBay doesn't allow a link to the video but if you search the name you should find it), In the video I start it up and walk around it. What has been repaired/replaced/added since I have owned it:Paint and undercoatingUpholstery: all new houndstooth fabric for the seats and door panels. Other areas had new black vinyl (both on the seats and door panels)Custom rear bumper from 4X4 Labs with ladder and gas can holder (for military style cans)Seat warmers: the two front seats and passenger rear seats have three level heating: Off, Low, and High. They work great and most times I use Low in the winter. The switches have small L.E.D. lights (green/low, red/high), and the seats are deactivated when key is removed: took me once to learn to do that!Side rock sliders. These are welded to the frame and have steel grate inserts (so you don't put your leg through - this was custom, as from the factory they are open). Notice how the sliders arch out toward the rear, this is so brush will be pushed away from the vehicle.Roof rack. This rack is heavy duty. The joints were sealed when it was put together. The sunroof will open and slide between the roof and the roof rack.Wiring harness. A Slee'd front light wiring harness was installed. The Slee'd harness is a heavier gauge wire and the optional kit for driving lights was installed. Older Toyotas don't allow for auxiliary lights to dim automatically when the high beams are dimmed. This kit allows for that, so I keep my front driving lights 'on': they come on with the high beams and go off when I switch to low beams. There is a master switch so the lights won't come on at all.Hi-Lift jack. This is essential, as the factory jack won't work on a truck that has been lifted. It is attached to the spare tire and has an anti-theft lug on it.Radiator cap, Oil drain plug, Front heater core, rear window spray nozzleFront brake pads, front brake rotors, brake lines front and rear where needed, cleaned rear drums and adjustedMaster cylinderOptima battery - the best battery out there. Holds a deep charge and doesn't use water in the designFuel pump and strainerExhaust gasket, repair O2 sensorExtensive electrical upgrade: multiple fuse holders (for lights & seat warmers), replace wire at hot side to fuse (this is why many older FJ's won't start when hot-the wire corrodes with age and overheats)Tune up: distributor cap, rotor, PVC valve, plugs, heavy duty plug wires (about 3K miles ago)Tires and wheels: Toyo Open Country A/T 265/75R16E. The set is from Town Fair TireMufflerTrunk! Had a custom trunk made for where the spare tire use to hang. It is accessible from inside. The cover is made from an old VW bus engine cover. The trunk is sealed against the elements and holds a fair amount. I kept my rescue straps and hardware there, out of sight, but always with me and not taking up passenger room.Headlights: custom headlights were installedAftermarket lights: a mixture. Both sides and the rear have two L.E.D. lights each and each set is on a separate switch. They consume very little juice, but put out a lot of light - great for off road and or camping. Facing forward are four lights: two are long range and the outside ones are wide. On the front bumper are two fog lights, which I leave on all the time to double as Daylight Running Lights (though it would be hard to NOT see this rig coming at you!). Also on the front are two long range driving lights that are hooked into the main headlight relay so they will go on with the high beams. It is a hoot to see it with all the lights on, looks like a UFO has landed What it may need:Some of the windows could stand to be re-tintedSome of the clips holding the interior rear panels need replacing Minor touch up of paint (tried to show in pics)Some areas inside that were grey were painted black. In the front it has held up well, though it could use touch up in the back
