Vehicle Detail

I could write volumes about this car but just some details and I'll let the photos, slideshow and video do most of the talking. I have joyously owned the car for ten years. In my ownership I have always attend to its needs and tastefully dressed it up for my pleasure. All service that needs to be done both as needed and required have always be done. This car was made unique by previous owners in that it started its life as a plain old Targa C2 in what was an unattractive color call Wimbledon Green with a black top and Cobalt Blue interior. This car was skillfully transformed from the ugly duckling that it was to the beauty that it is today. The previous owner had a cab conversion done using all genuine Porsche parts minus the motors so this is a manual top. To me it was no big deal because my rule was that when it came out of storage the top went down and when it went back in the top was brought up, which also means that if it wasn't nice outside it didn't go anywhere. Then the PO changed it from a plain old C2 to a turbo look at a huge expense by adding the turbo look front fenders and rear end. I state rear end because these are not flares welded on to the original body but a surgical removal of the rear quarters from the door jams back. At this point the car was repainted to a Porsche color called Glacier White. This was a complete tear down of the car, interior out, engine out and all repainted as far as the eye can see, Re-assembly was done with all new nuts, bolts, screws and hardware as needed. I was told that all was done to the tune of $12,000. So by the time that all this was done it was re-badged a Roadster. The headlight washers were added for the look but are not functional. I was going to do it because all that was needed was the pump, reservoir and switch but decided the look and not the function was fine. While the engine was out it was rebuilt for added performance. This was about at 47000 miles. The company that does all the service on it told me that he was unsure what may have been done but that it pulls and runs far stronger than a factory engine, estimating that the horsepower maybe closer to 275 or more. Which then brings it up to me and what I have done. From a maintenance stand point the clutch and related were replaced, shocks all around, brakes and rotors all replaced, tires all around, new wheels, complete tune up, valves adjusted, AC converted and recharged, seat adjusting buttons replace, heating servos replaced, stereo head unit replaced, cab top to window frame seal replaced, all oil lines and hoses replaced, airbag steering wheel replaced, condenser fan and resistors replaced, distributor belt replaced, center and rear taillights replaced, the gear shift was replaced with a B&M short shift shift lever, and I'm sure there are other things that have slipped my mind. Now from an appearance stand point I have added the HRE wheels, the windscreen behind the seats, the custom built rear seat delete with the Xplode sub woofers ( still have the original rear seats that will be included), the side marker lights which are not functional but could be made to be, the side skirts were made into a one piece because I didn't like the way the seam looked between the 2 pieces ( the holes were slightly modified so that the side-skirts will come of easily for servicing, the spoiler on the wing on the back is there for a more unique look and is held on by foam tape so it will come off easily if I got tired of it or in this case if the new owner doesn't like it. On the inside I had a company in Germany CNC all the aluminum accents such as the knob covers, door handles, lock knobs and gearshift top. They also made the door sill covers which are stainless laser etched with "Roadster" and then plastic coated for protection, the steering wheel was replace with one that was more sporty looking but still has the airbag function. The third brake light was removed and was replaced with the one used on the 993, the original holes are capped with stainless steel caps. The slight two tone look with the mirrors, door handles, rubbers seals and bottom half of the bumpers and side-skirts in black adds a nice but subtle contrast to the outside as does the aluminum accents add a sparkle to the inside. So is the car 100% perfect? No, but it's a well cared for 21 year old car that runs and functions as it should in all respects, it needs nothing and will go anywhere. Is the paint perfect? At about 5 feet away it is but stone chips happen and I always took care of them at the beginning of each driving season. I can count on one hand the stone chips that it may have right now. Anything wrong with it right now? Not really but if I still have it in the spring I will replace the door seals and the door switch rubber covers because of age. Tires are Bridgestone SO2 and are at 80% or better. Recent service (last 12 months) include: 4 small oil hoses replaced, valves adjusted, plugs and wires replaced, rear brakes and rotors replaced, oil and filter and brake fluid changed and engine tuned. Any oil leaks? None now that the little oil hoses have been change because of cracks due to age. Never raced or tracked, although I have dusted a number of "tuners" over the years with ease. Any accidents? None on my watch and no evidence that a trained eye could see. Am I going to give it away...nope I'll hang on to it before I do that. I am selling it because I can't afford or justify a beauty like this. I sold my business 6 years ago and am now semi retired. When I had my business, ownership and the expense of a car like this was no problem. My last trip for service was over $2000.00, I can't justify that anymore. It's an emotion decision but one that has come its time to do. When I need an escape this is my star ship. It's time to move on. Questions and inspections are welcome. And as soon as I check with the company that provided all the service over the years and if it's OK for calls about this car I will share that with any one that asks. There are some misc spare parts, a full cover for storage and a cabin cover that I use when I take it out and want to keep eyes or elements from the interior. Also it has a high-end Alpine alarm system which is what the little display is on the center console. Mileage is hard to read but it says 110781. Good luck and happy bidding.More Information....... For those that have asked here are some details: It has polished stainless steel headers by B&B giving an awesome tone to the engine. Going along a wall or under a bridge it sounds like that cars that you hear racing at Road Atlanta. Love that sound. The stereo is a Kenwood don't have the model number but is about 3 years old and is mid level receivers that cost between 2 and 3 hundred. MP3 and USB connections feed into an Xplode amp that powers the subs and an additional high end Xtant amp that powers the rest of the 6 speakers. There is also a Kenwood 10 CD changer mounted with the amps. That panel that all the components are mounted on pivots up to get to the tools, air pump and spare which are included. The car is lower about 1 to 1.5 inches. It was corner balanced at one time but when I change the shocks I didn't have that done and really can't tell the difference. Whatever recalls that Porsche on this model over the years are up to date and I have a list of those somewhere. I do have the manuals for both the car and the accessories. Rear window is clear, no fogging or discoloration but does have some minor scratches that require close examination to see them. I always unzipped the window and laid a soft cotton bath towel on it before opening the top. Whatever is there was provided at no extra charge by the PO. No curb rash whatsoever on the wheels. They dull down during the driving season to what I think is a nice soft patina but every spring it takes me a full day of polishing them back to a mirror shine. I do this by removing the wheels. It's messy but rewarding to see the shine. The last wheels were clear coated which was less work but when the clear coat starts to lift and then gets ugly. So when I special ordered these wheels I deleted the clear coat. The seats are leather uppers, the door panels I think are leather, the doorjambs and the front of the speaker box are leather. The carbon fiber that dresses the inside is real with the exception of the console between the seats and it is simulated but a decent match. The cover on the dash is there because I like it and it keeps the glare of the dash of the windshield. The dash is perfect underneath. The cover was custom made with "Roadster" embroidered on it and is held on with Velcro tabs for easy removal. Shifts smooth and precise no issues at all. Clutch is high performance and is tight. There is a performance chip installed but do not know what kind, the original factory chip is included. Yes the wipers work and yes they are on the wrong side but I like them that way because they are out of my line of sight. I removed the relay that parks them and I manually park them on the other side. The relay is included and just needs plugged back in. The 2 photos of the underside are several years old and were taken right before the shocks were replaced but are still a good representation of it now.
