My 560SL did not pass CA smog check and is being sold for someone else to repair or to a salvage yard to part the car out. I bought the car in in the late 90's from the Palm Springs original owner at 90K miles and have enjoyed it for years. The car burns a lot of oil. The car has been in my garage since November 2011, when it did not pass smog check. The hard and soft tops are both in good shape, the tires are new and all parts are present. This car's issues are burning oil, a leaking transmission and, as of late, a near dead battery. I have never had to put any money into this car, and now that it's time, I am passing it on. The winning bidder will need to pick up the car via a flatbed truck or other towing mechanism.On Apr-24-12 at 11:03:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Regarding the emission history of my car, in 2003, 2005 and 2007, I spent $100 to get the car to pass CA smog check, where CA would kick in up to $500 via Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) portion of the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). The car passed the first attempt in 2009. As mentioned above, my car does not have a valid registration. The DMV has pointed out I can sell to an individual, auctioner or salvage yard as long as the sales contract clearly states this car is not currently registered, did not pass CA smog, and either needs to be repaired by the buyer to pass CA smog OR parted out. Note: I did pay the $97 registration to CA for 11/1/11 - 10/31/12, I just have not tried to get it to pass the smog check.
