I know that this truck is rare, but exactly how rare is debatable as the specific production/import numbers are hard to come by. That said, the best resources available indicate that in 1983, 300 FJ40's were imported of which 30 had the rarest combination of both factory installed A/C and power steering options. Having both of those options, this one of the most rare FJ40's ever offered to the US market. No mistake, this is the Holy Grail of FJ40's. The engine is a 2F with 98,xxx original miles is strong and runs perfectly. There are no knocks or ticks and it does not smoke. I have noticed an oil spot on the driveway, but have not looked into it further. The top of the motor is clean and dry. The transmission is a four speed, shifts smoothly and the clutch is tight. The body has some signs of rust in the normal places, but not bad. In other words, this truck does not need a tub, just a few panels to make it perfect. The passenger quarter has some rust and was primed. The driver's rocker/lower door and the floor pan need attention, All of the other panels are solid and do not have filler in them. The frame and underside are in good shape and rust free. The electrical components are there and working with the exception of the radio. Everything else seems to be in working order to include the dome light and exterior lights. The driver's seat has a small hole, all of the others are in great condition as well as the headliner. The original rubber floor mat in the front is in good condition also. This truck has not been restored and reflects that in its overall condition. It is simply an original, solid, driver quality vehicle and has been used as such. This is just an all around very cool, and very rare truck. If you know anything about this type of vehicle, you will know that a lowball offer won't be acceptable. If you happen to be local, I will entertain inspections for those making serious inquiries.
