1998 Mercedes S420 Big Body Benz, this was the car in the 90’s. Oil Tycoons, Rock Stars and CEO’s were driving these. These Mercedes cost upward of $75,000 + when new. This one is decked out in silver exterior and black leather interior, and BBS Style wheels, which gives this car a more sporty look then the others. With only 119,821 miles on it (less than 10k per year), there is plenty of life left on this Benz. This one is equipped with the 4.2 V8, which runs great, offers plenty of power and purrs down the road. The automatic transmission shifts as it should and doesn’t make any strange noises. Brakes are good shape and stop the car on a dime. Air conditioner blows cold as well as the heat blows hot. All gauges work and stereo system sounds great. The rear passenger window rolls down about an inch then stops, the rest of the windows and sunroof work great. This car is also equipped with soft touch close doors, which all seem to work. Exterior of the car is in good shape, the paint on the exterior shines and looks decent. There are a few places the paint is chipping in a few areas(see pictures) . Body is straight with no visible door dings. The car is still very presentable. I would rate the exterior of the car 7 ½ due to these minor paint issues. The interior is in good shape, no rips or tears in the seats. The carpets are clean and don’t show much wear. Door panels, dash and wood are all in great shape. Headliner is clean and isn’t sagging. The rear seat look like new and doesn’t look like many people rode in the back. The front seats have some scuffing, but look presentable, black leather shows everything. There is a plastic cover missing from the rear view mirror (see pic). I would rate the interior a solid 8. The tires are near new with 85% tread life left. As mentioned the wheels are BBS wheels, which I believe was a dealer option at the time these were being sold. One of the wheel caps is missing, they are available on EBay. Trunk is clean and spare tire is in place. There is a CD Changer in the trunk, but the previous owner didn’t leave the magazine. Overall this benz is in good shape. If you are looking for a show car, then this might not be the one, due to the minor paint chips, but if you are looking for a good driver and a sharp looking car, then this is the one. We have priced this car $1000’s less then what others are selling here on EBay.
