Vehicle Detail
Restored 1952 MG TD Up for auction is this very respectable restored 1952 MG TD. The history behind this car is that it was owned by an engineer who loved this car. He took very good care of the vehicle. He had the engine rebuilt and added a spin off oil filter. The engine was bore 20 over, and ran very well with plenty of power. He took his pride and joy to a car show and enjoyed it. He passed away shortly after that, and the car sat in dry storage. The car was then sold, and ended up in a restoration shop. The car was very solid to start with. The wood was tight and the body was showing minimal wear and tear without the usual rot. Frame and all support structures were in very good condition. The interior had been replaced previously in tan with leather front seats. It shows very minimal wear. Carpeting is tan, and there is also a custom removable front carpeted tunnel cover. The brake system was gone through with a rebuilt master cylinder, new lines and rear wheel cylinders. The fuel system has a rebuilt fuel pump. The fuel tank was boiled out, lined and has a new low fuel sending unit installed. All five balanced tires are on repainted rims with new hubcaps. This is when I purchased the car, and had it finished. The body was stripped, body worked, sealed, and painted with a PPG base coat / clear coat product in British racing green. The bright work is a combination of polished original, and new chrome. The Windshield glass is in very good condition. A good portion of the weather stripping is new. The top cover is a new Robbins, Stayfast tan top with newly covered side curtains to match. This TD also has working turn signals, and a temperature gauge. Other than the tachometer sticking occasionally everything is in working order. Oil pressure and charging rates are within normal operating ranges. Please look at all the photos and ask any questions you may have. This is a very nice example of a 1952 MG, TD. It runs very strong and looks great. It is sold as is, where is with no implied warranty. The reserve is set at a very reasonable amount given the condition of the car. It is a very nice driver that you can also enjoy taking to shows. By the way if you live in the Pittsburgh area, and need the marque car for the 2012 Pittsburgh Grand Prix you may want to check this car out. Thank you for looking at the auction and good luck in your bidding!
