Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1979 BMW 320i e21 (VIN #5467211), paint code "kaschmir-metallic." A picture album of the car is located here: https://picasaweb.google.com/108591746197577508017/320iForSale# There's also a video of a test drive here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me8HB5z8W1U. And of the sunroof working here: http://youtu.be/PxsHpCr65y4. I bought this 320i as a second car for running errands, but it's not seeing enough use these days to warrant keeping it. It is a surprisingly reliable car with enough pep to keep up with modern traffic and get you around town. I occasionally used it when my daily driver was out of commission, and it performed fine on my 35-mile commute. I purchased the car approximately one year ago from a woman who inherited the car from her father. Her father bought the car new from a dealership in San Diego, CA. A lot of literature conveys with the car detailing it's maintenance history; please see the pictures in the photo album. Good points: Decent paint; I would rate 6/10 All electronics work well: heater blower fan; defrost; turn signals; headlights; stereo. Spotless, original interior. Seats have no tears. Clean, dry trunk All emissions components work flawlessly (it passed DC emissions with flying colors) Auto transmission shifts smoothly Sunroof operates perfectly and does not leak Good suspension; bushings and shocks feel solid Decent tire tread New alternator within past year Clean DC title and inspection. Car is stored nearby in Alexandria, VA. Known issues: Rust areas on both rockers near the front fender. See here and here. some cold-starting issues: I believe this is caused by a faulty warm-up regulator. On cold days, the car needs to warm up for 5 minutes before being drivable. passenger seat does not fold forward to allow access to rear seat (driver's seat fine) tiny bit of valve chatter non-working AC unit weak (but working) stereo empty toolkit several small dings, including a bent gas cap cover. Overall, if you're into BMW's of this vintage, this is a fairly solid example. Please email me any questions. If you're interested in talking to me about the car, just shoot me an email with your phone # and I'll get back to you. Thanks much, Mike Auction details: This is NO reserve auction; however, I reserve the right to end an auction early if a local buyer shows up with cash in hand and a fair offer. On Mar-28-12 at 13:09:24 PDT, seller added the following information: A couple things I want to add/emphasize: This is originally a California car and has all of the original CA emissions equipment. The entire emissions setup is installed and functioning normally; no one has removed any components. If you're in a state that requires emissions inspection, this is a big plus. The mileage is accurate and odometer does work. All of the door and window seals are tight. I've driven the car in heavy rain and it does not leak water.
