Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1978 #'s matching Trans Am Here are some details for you and please read all before asking any questions. Drivetrain: This car still has its #'s matching L78 YA code 400 4bbl engine and original turbo 350 automatic transmission. Neither have ever been rebuilt. The car has recently had a new accel coil and spark plugs installed. Still could use new cap, rotor and wires as at idle it still a little chuggy. may need the carb tuned it or atleast the choke adjusted. 2.56 ratio original 10 bolt posi rear end Interior: the interior is in pretty decent shape. The dash has a hair line crack that would be easily repairable. unfortunately the dash was cut for a cd player as they commonly are these days. otherwise the dash would be mint. The carpet is in good looking shape but does have some wear edges and could use a replacing some time down the road. The headliner is brand new. tilt column with no slop. both front seat covers should be replaced to make a really nice interior. door panels and all other trim seem to be in good condition with no noticable blemishes on them. the console does show a few cigarette burns in it and the console box door hinge needs repair. All guages light up and seem to operate as supposed to. clock does not work. Suspension: The suspension seems all fine and tight with new rear shocks not sure about the fronts. The build sheet states that the car is a WS6 mark IV suspension though when the car was puchased by the previous owner, it had Rally II wheels. I have access to a set with decent tread and in pretty nice shape with either light marking or no rubs at all on them for an additional $400 if you would like to have them. $350 if we keep the rally wheels. The brakes operate fine and dont seem to pull in any direction. Exterior: The exterior is in pretty nice shape. From 20 feet away the car looks like a show car. I rate the car in nice overall driver condition and local shows. The car was repainted around 10 years ago and recieved decal's about 2 years ago. The decal's look good and compliment the car well, though the front trans am logo is located in the incorrect spot on the nose. All spoilers are in tact including the lower front. the wheel spoilers do have some cracks but could be left alone as a driver or easily fixed whenever you chose to do so. The floor pan's are in great shape as well as rear frame rails and tail panel. The door bottoms are really nice and clean as well. the door jambs on the body are very nice too. Trunk lid and trunk floor are all solid. There are only two spots on the entire body that i could find one is the lower outter corner of the drivers side door (pictured) that has a few small surface rust bubbles starting and the drivers side lower rear quarter panel has a small spot starting too which looks as if it must have been ground on and only mudded before and not properly repaired as i see evidence of filler on the bottom of it. I found no other rust or traces of filler anywhere else on this car. The paint is black with a gold looking mettalic in it. I have a close up picture of it in the sun to show how it looks on the hood in very direct sunlight. its not dramatic nor does it look bad but just not the correct shade of black the car came with from the factory. Other details. This car is a 3 owner car. The second owner is the one who had the car painted. He bought this car from his mother in law. my buddy purchased this car in 2009. He only chose to sell it to me to help make a purchase of another car he wanted to buy. After looking at the car its a great car but just not the right timing financially for me to have this car. This is the only reason I am letting it go. so at this point the car has only had 3 titled owners. I have a clean clear lein free title in hand along with the original build sheet, owners manual and a couple other service manuals. This is a great car and would make a very nice addition to someone's collection. please feel free to email me with any questions at all. or give me a call from 6pm-10pm est time or any reasonable time on the weekends but please no calls after 10pm Call Rick 616-662-0892 Terms: All zero feedback bidders do not bid unless you have my permission before bidding. On Mar-18-12 at 05:11:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to add the drivers side exhaust manifold leaks should fix up with a new gasket. I do appologize for the crooked pictures and not so good pictures either. they were taken from an I phone. thank you.
