Vehicle Detail
What is offered for sale to the highest bidder is a solid, complete 29K original time capsule that would be a good example to either fix up and use as is, or restore to a very sharp vintage automobile. I have started the process, but I don't have the time or resources to continue. HISTORY: This rare Holiday style hardtop was a one family car I obtained from a close friend. Her grandmother purchased this beauty on August 12, 1959 at ESSIG MOTORS, INC. in Indianapolis. Proof of this is provided with original purchase and loan documents, as well as the original owners manual. Ownership was transferred to her granddaughter (my friend) in 1978. It is believed to have been garaged most of its life. CONDITION BODY: Overall, the body is remarkably solid for a midwest, 53 year old car. I think this car might have been a bit too large for grandma, as there is evidence of minor surface repairs and a complete new coat of paint at some point, just slightly off-white compared to the original color. The dark spots on the car are where paint or, in one place, some body filler has come off. However, although the metal there has a rusted surface, it's still pretty solid. It is also obvious there may be rust under paint in the usual suspected areas. I believe there is rust through on the floor board in the left rear floorboard, as viewed from underneath. The underside shows evidence that the car was well undercoated originally, and appears pretty solid. Some deterioration has occured in various seams and edges, as can be seen in the photos. WINDOWS: All glass is in good condition. The glass in these special Holiday style cars is quite rare. The left rear door window is having trouble rolling down, so some adjustment appears to be needed inside the door to correct this. INTERIOR: The interior is all original. The seat upholstery needs to be restored as it is starting to come apart at some of the seams. The carpet shows normal wear, expected at this age. The special ceiling panels they used in these special roof styles need to be re-attached along with the chrome vinyl separation bands, which are all there. DRIVETRAIN: This 29k, 394 CI, 315hp, engine starts and runs great. It has new belts, hoses, spark plugs & wires, coil and recent new oil, filter, lube, and anti-freeze. If it hasn't run for awhile, adding gas to the carburetor is the quickest way to start it, so the fuel pump may be weak. The jetaway hydromatic transmission seems to work great. The power steering works unbelievably well. BRAKES: Some brake lines have been replaced. It has all new brake shoes, and either new or rebuilt wheel cylinders. Unfortunately, the brakes are still very weak. A local mechanic inspected it and said the vacuum for the power brakes was very low. So, more work will be needed to bring the brake system to an acceptable level. WHEELS: The drums, as well as the rims, have been media blasted and finished with POR15. Original hubcaps and trim rings as shown in some of the pictures come with the car. Although the tires have good tread and hold pressure well, the age of the nylon tires and flat spotting caused by the prolonged period of time the car has sit on concrete floors will require their replacement. ADDITIONAL TRIM: One of the pictures shows additional used trim that I have obtained to replace damaged trim on the car, including the original right door trim. This also includes the right front fender trim, rear trunk trim pieces on either side of the trunk handle and two tail light assemblies. TERMS OF SALE & SHIPPING: Winning bidder must submit a $500 deposit within three days of auction close by cash, cashiers check, or paypal, and complete full payment within seven days of auction close with cashiers check, or cash. Vehicle shall be picked up within fourteen days of auction close, with winning bidder making all arrangements. Any deviation from these terms must be approved prior to submitting a bid. If you can not complete the transaction, as specified, PLEASE DO NOT BID!!! GENERAL: I have tried to provide as true and accurate a description as possible. If you have any questions or need further documentation with additional pictures, please contact me through the "ask seller a question" provision above. Good Luck Bidding...
