RESERVE PRICE LOWERED. MESSAGE ME WITH QUESTIONS! I have a 1953 Chevy that I'd really like to move on to, but need the space! 1966 EL CAMINO 350 CU IN. V-8 (not original), 3 SPEED 350 TURBO TRANSMISSION & DRUM BRAKES Here is a link to 74 photos of the car: Go to Flickr and search "ethan_tyer" in people. You will find a photostream for the El Camino photos. I have two videos of this 1966 El Camino posted on YouTube; one of the engine starting and idling, and one of the car being driven from inside. SEARCH YOUTUBE FOR "ETYER" CHANNEL. The following problems were diagnosed and fixed: 1. Leaking power steering pump - replaced with a rebuilt model from Kragen. 2. Torn up carpet and headliner - replaced with a new headliner and carpet. 3. Leaking radiator - pulled the old radiator and replaced with a new four row radiator and added a radiator shroud to help keep things nice and cool. Overheating is NOT a problem. 4. Replaced all hosing - radiator hoses, heating hoses, and transmission oil hoses to radiator as they were all showing signs of aging and cracking. 5. Battery - Replaced the battery and main cabling from the battery. 6. Replaced the header gaskets - one was blown on the passenger side, so I replaced both. 7. Put in new E8 spark plugs and heavier lead wires. 8. Replaced the alternator and remounted from the passenger side to the driver side. 9. Replaced the fan assembly and belt wheels as well as put a new water pump on (you may as well if you are going to replace the flywheels and fan assembly). Also replaced the belts as the new configuration required different length belts. 10. Replaced the intake manifold with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold as well as replacing the head gaskets. 11. After replacing the intake manifold (and personally liking the Edelbrock series of parts) I replaced the carburetor with an Edelbrock four-barrel 600 electric-choke carb and Edelbrock air cleaner. 12. When tuning the engine, I added a new starter relay as there was some hesitation when attempting to start. I also inspected the fuel pump and found it pretty worn, so I replaced that, too. 13. Replaced the exhaust gaskets from the headers to the pipes. 14. Replaced the coolant overflow valve in the engine block (near the rear, above the starter) as it had a small leak. 15. Had all four drums replaced and the system bled at Midas. 16. Lastly, I replaced the gas cap and I put on a Grant GT steering wheel (there was a 80s era GMC steering wheel on when I bought it). Remaining Issues: 1. The power steering unit may have a small leak. It hasn't left a puddle or drips anywhere, but the unit looks a little oily. The power steering itself functions fine. 2. The turn signals do not work. 3. The emergency brake does not work. However, I looked into this and it appears the clips that hold the guide wires to the frame need to be replaced and then it will function. 4. The only instruments that function are the speedometer and the oil pressure sensor. The fuel, engine temp and battery instruments do not work. 5. The sun visors are starting to dry rot and there is a small tear in the driver's side of the seat near the door (about a half inch little hole in the fabric). 6. The heater unit's levers are frozen in place. There is no A/C unit on the car (but room to install one). 7. The glove box does not have a box! Just a door. 8. The radio consists of what appears to be a stock AM radio with one speaker sitting in the dash. 9. The doors do not lock. Other notes: 1. The car seems to have been originally blue and was repainted to white at some point. It doesn't appear to have been in any accidents. 2. Probably during the repaint, the slots in the body to accommodate the badges for the car were filled with bondo. While inspecting the bondo in the tailgate, I knocked it out, resulting in a hole about the size of a U.S. quarter in the tailgate paint (you can see the slot in the metal for the "CHEVROLET" lettering). I have the lettering for the tailgate and the Chevy flags for the front fenders with the 350 V8 logo, too. I'll throw those in! 3. The bed has some surface rust. 4. The tailgate opens and closes well. I have worked on this car for over 5 years to make it into a "daily driver" quality vehicle. On a 40 degree morning or a 110 degree afternoon, the car cranks up and runs well. You can buy this car today and drive it as-is or continue the restoration or customize it to your heart's desire. One of the COOLEST things about owning this car is a company called The Original Parts Group. You can find them online. They have every part you could ever need for this car; brand new with to-the-year specific parts. They also can assist you in locating parts you need. I am willing to let the car go for a loss of quite a few thousands dollars. I am looking to make room for my next project car. I am selling this car AS-IS with no warranties or guarantees. Please call 310-766-5302 if you're interested.
