1965 Mercedes Benz Unimog 406 NO RESERVE AUCTION I bought this Unimog in a package deal with two rare Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40’s. I own a FJ40 restoration shop, but I have no use for this Mog, so here it is for sale on a No-Reserve auction meaning bid to buy. This Mog is well known in the Northwest being involved in Mogfest for several years. The Photo bucket link will show 67 pictures of this Mog. There are 5-6 pictures on that link taken 3-4 years ago before the Mog tipped over on its side. All the pics on this eBay add were taken today, the tip over is on You-Tube, link below (not the best selling point, but I like to be 100% honest). I’m no Mog expert, I will explain it the best I can, if an expert finds something I missed please email me, I will post it for everyone. This Mog is mechanically excellent; it does have body damage and body rust, the frame and running gear look great. Photo bucket Link http://s953.photobucket.com/albums/ae11/fj40man79/1965%20Unimog/ You Tube Link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYGsvjbojtM MECHANICAL This Unimog 406 has the factory air locking diff axles, the factory optioned 4000/1 transfer case (low gear is so slow you can barely see the tire move), 4 hydraulic hook ups in the rear, 2 in the front, rear PTO, provision on front of the t-case for a PTO up front (need driveline) 3 air hookups, trailer light hookup. The motor is the original diesel, does not look like it’s been rebuilt. Miles show 18,428, hours on motor are roughly 3600. The dump or tipper bed works well; there are several levers that control hydraulic fluid to change the direction of the tilting bed. The clutch is good, brakes are good, Optima red top battery, and the power steering works great. The tires are in good shape, they are balanced, could not figure out why as they look Agriculture to me. Not sure if this Mog has the standard or “fast” axles. There are 6 FWD gears, I had it to 40mph, will go much faster. There are 3 transfer case High/Low levers. BODY The body has rust in spots, pics show it the best, the panels are damaged, the soft top is toast, and the roll bar looks like it saved the PO’s life from the you-tube video. There is no windshield; I do have the tops of the doors which are included. The seats are OK, the hood does not stay on very well, and the doors open and shut as they please. I drove this beast in the hills around my property for an hour or so, I could not stop smiling, and it is a blast to drive. I’ve owned over 600 FJ40’s, I thought they were ahead of their time; this 1965 Mog puts the Japanese to shame. Germans made good stuff; this Mog was imported from Austria. I have a clean clear WA state title in the previous owner’s name, dated early 2011. I have a super-seeding bill of sale so no penalty when you transfer it. I did not change it to my name as I do not plan to keep it and it takes 5-6 weeks for my state to get it back to me if I transfer. So it will transfer directly to you. I require a $1000 non-refundable deposit immediately after the auction is completed via PayPal, the remainder cash in person, bank to bank wire transfer, or cashier’s check within 7 days closed auction. I’ve sold many vehicles sight unseen on eBay, it is an easy process. I’m open to any 3rd party inspection during the auction. The highest point on this Mog is 7ft 6 in, the total length is 14 ft. I just got a shipping quote from WA to Hartford CT at $2100. Shipping is quite a bit more for this large heavy vehicle compared with the typical FJ40 I send across the US at $1100. I've used my shipping broker 60 times without incident, he always gets the trucks picked up quickly, I will work with your shipper as well. Winning this auction means you bought this Mog, it is not the first chance to look at it. Deposit via Paypal is required directly after auction is over. Looking is during the auction, not after, I will skip right over you if the deposit is not made within 24 hours, and no you can't look at it first after the auction before the deposit. Yes...I plan to let the auction go to the highest bidder, I will not shut it down. I bought this in a package deal with 2 FJ40's I really wanted, I'm selling this to off-set that cost. I will not take this truck into Canada, I will take it to the US side of the border within 300 miles of my shop. I will box up the hood and other parts for shipping and strap them down in the back. The doors open and shut, the latches need work. With only 18,428 miles the components are not wore out at all.
