Vehicle Detail

1968 Chev SS Camaro 327/Powerglide Year: 1968 Make: Chevrolet Model: Camaro SS The Perfect Muscle Car Combination A classic, 3 owner garaged SS, a powerful 327 V-8, a Powerglide transmission and a true Super Sport: that’s what defines this late-‘60’s Chevrolet Camaro. Add to that the original engine and a car that looks and drives like new, this becomes a true collectible with only upside appreciation in its future. Excellent Finishes Our 1968 coupe has a nice respray in Black Cherry. The paint is in good condition with some minor rust spots, but falls just short of being show-quality. It is bright and fresh, without any dullness. The vinyl upholstery is black and is in excellent condition without any signs of wear. It is accentuated by the VERY RARE bench seat (Strato-seat). This was a rare option that has numbers of only 233 SS Camaros delivered with this option. This includes no console and the column shifter.....Very different car and gets really noticed at the shows! Desirable SS Option This camaro is fitted with the very desirable Super Sport option, which includes all the badging, power disk brakes and heavy leaf suspension. Mechanically: a Powerhouse Equipped with the 327 290h.p. engine, this car moves right away from the lesser 327s. This is the original engine (NUMBERS MATCHING!!) and it starts, runs and performs like it did from the factory. New Holly 4 barrel carb. There is no hesitation as the engine pulls through its power curve and has plenty of torque to make city driving a pleasure. This couple has the very desirable two speed powerglide transmission that is as smooth as silk. Up-shifting and down-shifting are effortless, making this a pleasant car to drive. It feels as if the car wants to respond to the driver rather than the driver having to force it to respond. It has new stainless steel disk brakes all the way around with a new power brake booster. It not only runs good, but stops good too! It has American Racing wheels with new BF Goodrich T/A radials all the way around...little wider on the back. New shocks all the way around along with a complete new front end (ball joints, control arms, etc.). It was cleaned up with new stainless steel braided hoses! Originality, Power and Class: Hard to Beat; Harder to Find One can look far and wide but finding a 327, powerglide‘68 SS Camaro with its original engine, resprayed —and very desirable--color, with an immaculate interior will be a Herculean task. Complete with headers and new stainless steel Borla exhaust all the way back....sounds great! Whats left to be done? This SS coupe is mostly done, but a few things are left. The 2nd owner removed the original black vinyl top and had the car repainted. This was 7 years ago. There is some surface rust appearing where the vinyl roof glue was. This rust has not gone through and needs to be repaired this year. There is also 2 other places where there is some minor rust that I have included in the pictures. The car is solid and just needs a little more TLC. The gauges all work as does all of the safety equipment. The Classic Autosound radio has been upgraded with Memphis speakers....sounds great!
