Vehicle Detail

I love this car but an unplanned career change has taken all my time for it away. I've only been able to drive it about half a dozen times since I bought it in late 2009. I'd rather sell it to someone that will enjoy it than to let it gather dust in my garage. It has 136,750 miles and has always been garaged. Never driven in snow or ice. Started out as a Southern California car and came to TX in 2007. Beautiful cream paint with chocolate leather interior. CARFAX certified with clean TX title. Never been wrecked, no rust, never smoked in and no pets. 100% original except the stereo. EVERYTHING works on this car (except the A/C).The previous owner had the old A/C compressor removed since it was bad. I was able to locate a brand new original Porsche A/C compressor still in the factory box and still pressurized. I had the system in the car pressure tested and it will work if you want to install the compressor and have the system charged. I have all the parts except the $10 belt.Interior is in excellent condition with very minor wear. I just had the front seats recovered with original Italian leather ($800 for just the leather not including labor). There are no cracks in the glass or dash and no stains, no tears or worn through spots in the carpet. Seats are perfect. I also had the wheels repainted and polished. The paint is terrific. It has minor dings and chips but far fewer than you'd expect for a car with 136k miles. The most noticeable spot is on the hood where the previous owner didn't fold up the Targa top correctly and tried to shut the hood on it. One of the corners sticking up put a reverse ding that cracked the paint. Also--according to the previous owner, the hood and driver's side fender were repaired after a ladder fell in the garage and dented them. The repair bodywork and paint are excellent BUT they are just slightly darker than the rest of the car. The difference is so minor that my 14 megapixel camera cannot see it. You really have to look at it in the right light to see what I'm talking about but in the spirit of full disclosure I wanted to make sure I mentioned it.The reason I bought this particular car was the 1st and 2nd owners had spent over $8000 in maintenance and normal repairs in the last 25k miles. I have every single receipt. Here is a PARTIAL list of what has been done:NEW clutch at 110kNEW alternator and starter at 112kNEW shocks at 116kNEW shifter bushings and coupler at 124kNEW fuel pump, injection pump and pressure regulator and injector service at 132kNEW distributor, premium wires and coil at 132kNEW catalytic converter at 133kNEW brakes (pads and rotors) at 133kYou can look through the receipts and see that much more than this was done and the most recent work was done by Boardwalk Porsche in Plano TX.I just put in a new battery and gave it a tune-up with fresh oil/filter and inspection this month. Tags are good until August. It also has a nice Pioneer tape deck with 6 disc changer and removable face. Still has all the original tools, spare tire, emergency air compressor and owners manual. I also have a nice custom-made cover for use on sunny or windy days. It covers the entire passenger compartment with or without the top on.The car drives GREAT. Fast, nimble and tight just like you'd expect. No funny noises, no clunks, rattles or squeaks. You could drive it cross country today with no worries.NOW--it is a 30 year old Porsche with over 100k miles so it does have some quirks. If you've ever owned a car like this then you know what I mean. Managing the quirks is supposedly part of the fun. I'll list everything I know so there are no surprises before or after the sale:1) It has one noticeable oil leak. The forward oil return tube on the passenger side drips on the heater box and puts off that familiar burning oil smell that some people love and others hate. The good news is you can fix that leak without removing the head. I just haven't had time.2) If it sits for more than a week you will get a puff of smoke upon startup. It clears up in about 2 minutes and no more smoke after that. This is almost expected on older Porsches and VWs.3) Since it sits for weeks at a time the tires develop small flat spots. 20 minutes of highway driving gets rid of those. Feels like the front tires are slightly out of balance until they even out. If you drive it at least once a month you won't have that problem.4) It runs rich for about 5 minutes when started cold. This is common with the Bosch Jetronic injection system. Once it warms up that goes away.5) The Targa top needs to be recovered. The frame and locks are fine. Recovering and repainting would make it good as new. I never used it so I didn't get it done.Overall this is a timeless classic that is a blast to drive and fun to look at. The value of these cars keeps going up. Don't buy one from some internet dealer that doesn't know anything about the car (because it's not his car) or have any paperwork to back up their claims. Car is available to see and drive. Feel free to have your mechanic and have him/her inspect the vehicle here. I will accompany the buyer on any test drive (insurance requirements). Under no circumstances will I let the car be taken anywhere for inspection unless I agree to drive it there myself and be with the car during the entire inspection (again--insurance requirements).CASH IS PREFERRED. If you can't do cash, I'll accept a wire transfer (I'm with Wells Fargo) or a cashier's check from a local bank in which case I will give you a bill of sale and hold the car and the title until Wells Fargo tells me the check has cleared. For shipping, EBAY offers several shipping partners some of which I have used in the past with no issues. I will be happy to meet the transport and help facilitate getting the car loaded. I would also trailer the car to a local shipping office providing it is in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Please let me know if you have any questions BEFORE bidding. Good luck!On Mar-02-12 at 08:46:48 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE: The newly covered front seats do not appear to be a perfect match. However, they are supposedly the correct color for the car. They match the door handles, steering wheel and upper dash panel but the little back seats more closely match the carpet and interior panels. I got them from Italy from a company that specializes in classic sports car leathers and they based it on the VIN. Re-dying the front seats would be fairly easy and the fastest way to make the interior a perfect match. A local shop quoted me $300 to re-dye them (that price was with me removing the seats and the plastic trim and taking them in). I just donn't have the time or interest at this point to have it done.
