Vehicle Detail
1984 VW Rabbit L Diesel 4 speed manual This Rabbit has had extensive work done ending in august of 2010. After buying it on ebay from Maryland, I drove it from the winter of ’09 until June of 2011. The reason I parked it was due to no working A/C and it ended up being too small of a car to keep my injured neck from bothering me. I drove the car a max of 6,000 miles since most work done. It has been garaged the entire time I have owned it. Work done: New clutch and flywheel new axle assemblies left and right motor mounts new shift linkage joints Tranny oil changed to synthetic. temp sending unit oil pressure sending unit fan relay New head gasket (wasn’t blown, just had it changed while the timing belt was being replaced.) Timing belt and idler. Water pump Radiator, coolant hoses. injectors glow plugs injector pump re-sealed for low-sulfur fuel injector return lines 5 new all season tires (inc. spare) 4 snows w/studs used two seasons all brake pads/shoes front rotors rear drums and wheel cylinders all wheel bearings front strut assemblies. Now the down side: I replaced the original hood as it had a crease in it of unknown origin. The hood I replaced it with flew up on the highway, leaving a crease similar to the original. I then knew how the original was damaged. The hood and latch assemblies need to be replaced. The hood will stay latched down now but a screwdriver is needed to pop the hood. I did drive it this way until I parked it so it should be fine to drive until fixed. I was quoted $600 to fix the hood and latch assemblies with new parts. Also, there are some minor dents in the rear-quarter which are in a picture below. The body and sub frame are solid original Burgundy paint with minimal rust on left rear wheel well. Any deficiencies are displayed in photos on this auction. The heat works good, the A/C is missing parts under the hood but the compressor is there. All lights work, wipers work, horn works, parking brake firm. There is an old cassette deck with am/fm that is wired to a front speaker so No-Fi there. Jack and tire iron in trunk. I usually got at least 45mpg but if you drive at around 55 you can get 50+ mpg. I drove up to 65 mph when on highways, no smoke or vibrations. Buyer will also receive any spare parts and fluids I have in the garage. Not a lot but some bulbs, gaskets, filters, etc. The car is not registered or insured now so any buyer would need to get temp plates to drive it out of here or make other shipping arrangements. CT lets you get a 10 day plate even if you are from out of state with insurance, title and bill of sale.
