I am the second owner of the nicest example of an original 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe around. I spent years trying to locate a car of this quality but now I must sell it because other cars have been added to the garage. This is an original Missouri car that I had shipped to my home in Southern California several years ago. Before I purchased it, it was rarely used, mostly for parades and special events. I will include the historic Missouri plates in the sale. I drive this classic 2-3 times per week here in the desert and the Ford never overheats, even during the summer. The oil is changed every 500 miles and the original flathead V-8 (59AB block) starts and runs but I would recommend a rebuild if the buyer plans on going on a long road trip. Because I drive it around town only, I have never felt the need for an overhaul. I don't think the engine has ever been out of the car, or even the heads removed for that matter. The transmission shifts smoothly, without any problems. The 74K miles is original. I have owned several vintage Fords and this one is probably the most fun and dependable. I get lots of thumbs up from onlookers whenever they see this fat-fendered time machine. The color is Maize Yellow. The bumpers have been rechromed and look like new. There are some minor dings in the stainless trim and grill. The bodywork sports a few dings that can been seen in the photos, but is mostly straight. The largest ding is behind the passenger door as you can see in the photo. The trunk has been restored including a new mat. The car also has new seat upholstery (installed over the original) and door panels. The rest of the interior (including the headliner) is original. The voltage has been increased from 6V to 8V to allow better starting and safer lighting. All of the lights work except the fog lights and spotlight (just needs to be connected). The cigarette lighter, horn, deluxe heater and wipers work as they should. Two new windshields have been installed (see photo). The car rides on original 600 x 16 inch steel wheels and bias ply white wall tires and tubes. For other safety purposes I have added a few upgrades, including turn signals. The carburetor and distributor have been rebuilt and new spark plug wires and plugs installed. Both water pumps have been recently replaced. A car cover, manuals and extra parts are included in the sale including a sun visor. If you are interested in bidding and are in the Palm Springs area, you are welcome to inspect the car in person. I will help accommodate the shipping, best I can, at the buyer's expense. I have a lot of money invested in this car, much more than the Buy-It-Now price. This will be a great car for someone.
