OWN A PIECE OF RACING HISTORY. Up for auction is this 1950 Ford 2DR Coupe. This is a retired Bonneville Salt Flats and Dry Lakes Record Holding Car. The Bonneville Record in its class was set September 25th, 1981 with a two way average of 132.677 MPH. That record has since been broken. The El Mirage Dry Lakes record set in June 1984 was a two way average of 130.813 MPH. After 27 years that record still stands. Records were set in X-Production and XF Production Classes. The car was raced in 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile Salt Flats and Dry Lake Venues from 1973 up until the late 1990's. The car has extensive documentation including trophys, placques and Time Slips from its racing history. All records were set with a 296 Cubic in Flathead with variations of carburetion. I purchased the car approximately ten years ago and made it street legal. Current equipment on the car is: 30 over 8BA Flathead, Isky Cam, Edelbrock Intake, 400 CFM Holly Carb, Offenhauser Heads, Mallory Ignition, Reds Headers, T-10 4 Speed, 9" Ford Rear End with 3.0 Gear Ration, Traction Bars, Full Scatter Shield, Bell Housing, Full Roll Cage, 5-Point Harness, Window safety net, Two Fire Suppression Systems, one in cab and one in Engine Compartment. The car has a High Volume Radiator and always runs cool. The Engine, Trans and Rear End are all in great working order. The engine has a slight oil leak as is common with Flatheads. The sale of the car includes firesuits used when the car was raced, tow bar, all trophys, placques, time slips and documentation. This is a one of a kind, unique car with authentic racing history.
