Vehicle Detail

I'm selling my 1966 Mercedes-Benz W110 chassis 200 fintail. I'm a fintail enthusiast but I'm moving out of state and have to downsize, so only my 300SD daily driver and Universal wagon will be going with. My roommate purchased the car 4 years ago and I drove it here from 100 miles away. The engine ran strong but the brakes were sticking. After that it sat around for a while and then I purchased it from him. The title is clear and in my name, so no paperwork issues here. Also, the tags are current for almost another year. I recently changed the oil with GTX high mileage with ZDDP additive and a Mann filter. The car used to start up and run with no trouble, but the fuel pump went out and now fuel isn't getting to the filter. The car will run if you pour gas into the carburetors, as you can see from the video. The engine was rebuilt about 90,000 miles ago in 1977 along with the clutch. I think the water pump bearings are going bad because there is a grinding noise coming from the water pump. The brakes function, but the fluid is old and sometimes they drag (probably collapsed original hoses). The clutch functions well but the shifter is sloppy because it needs the bushings replaced. The tires are from 1986! In short, this car needs to be completely mechanically refurbished and is certainly not road worthy anymore. It is being sold as such. The body is restorable, but it needs quite a bit of metal fabrication in the front end of the right rocker panel. There is also a hole in the left rear floorboard where it rusted out. The driver door is wavy and there is a dent on the right rear door where the fin starts. The paint needs to be redone and the right rear fender had filler in it, which fell off. The chromed parts, including bumpers, are in decent condition, but show their age. The Hella fog lights used to work with the headlight switch but I think the bulbs are bad. The right lens is broken and has allowed moisture to get inside. The windshield is cracked, but I have a spare I may be able to sell. The interior has some good points. The door panels and front seats are in good condition. The door panel top caps are missing. The dashboard has three large cracks. The steering wheel is also cracked and crazed as is typical. There is no carpet. The back seat is sun-baked up top, though I have a nice tan spare I could sell. The trunk floor is rusty, but not as bad as a lot I have seen. The missing trim from the back of the car is in the trunk; it needs new clips. In short, this is a project car that needs to be restored mechanically and cosmetically--it does not run on its own. It could also be a great parts car, as sad as it would be to see that happen. If you purchase the car, I would like it to be picked up within 30 days of the end of auction unless we make other arrangements. I am moving, so I cannot hold onto it for much longer than two months. And, of course, the car will need to be either trailered or transported at your cost. I may consider selling it overseas if you contact me first and are willing to make the arrangements. Please ask me if you have questions about the car. I am pretty knowledgeable about old Mercedes and fintails in particular. The engine number is 121.924-10-061793. According to Mercedes, engines 121.924 were installed in the 190 and engines 121.940 were installed in the 200. I think that perhaps when the engine was rebuilt in 1977 that they used a 190 block because the receipt shows it was bored out. But then again, another engine may have been installed since then. I believe the intake manifold and carburetors are the proper 200 type.
