Vehicle Detail
1969 Mercedes 280SE, with very rare 4 speed floor shift manual transmission. 4-door sedan with 6 cylinder fuel injected engine. True mileage is unknown, as the odometer only has 5 digits. Project or parts car. Car has sat for over 10 years in a garage. Since then the gas tank has been cleaned, fuel pump disassembled/cleaned, engine oil and coolant replaced. Brake fluid was flushed, and new spark plugs installed. Engine starts right up and runs smooth. Likely clutch needs hydraulic cylinders renewed, so I have not driven the car. I will try to bleed it and see if it comes back alive. It has a good battery. Comes with a lot of receipts from the late 80s to early 90s for wheel bearings, brake discs, flex disc, valve job, ac service, new radiator, etc etc etc. Brakes will need work, calipers were locked up, they are now mostly free, but I'm sure they could use a rebuild. The paint is faded and cracking, and in some places there is primer showing. There is rust through in the trunk floor and left rear wheel well, and a few small spots here and there. Front fenders and front of rockers (behind front wheels) are solid, that is where these cars usually rust. By rust belt or East Coast standards this is a fairly rust free car. I found one hole in the passenger floor as it turns up to form the front wheel well, but the floors are not rusty from underneath, the brakes, suspension, etc are not rusty. It comes with the 4 original hubcaps. Interior is decent for a car of this age. The driver's seat bottom has some rips, minor cracks in the dash, a few worn spots in the carpet. The drivers side door pockets has been removed, but is included with the car. The trim piece that goes between the tunnel and the lower AC vents is also removed, and has a broken corner. Comes with original tool bag with tool, original jack, owners manual, and receipts from the previous owners. This is a used car, and it has a lot of little defects, and it would be nearly impossible for me to describe every little paintchip, etc. This is sold as a project or parts car, and that is what the buyer should expect. I encourage people to look at the car in person. ANY form of payment that is not cash will have to wait until cleared. Please pick up car 2 weeks after the end of the auction, unless other arrangements have been made with me. Please call or email with questions. 817-797-8015. My reserve is what I've seen similar cars sell for on eBay. The car is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. The car can be inspected in Fort Worth, TX, by appointment, just give me a call. On Feb-29-12 at 07:05:27 PST, seller added the following information: I just checked and one can buy clutch slave and master cylinders for ~$23 each online, so getting the clutch working should not be that expensive. There are 2 types of slave cylinders, this car takes the later type, which is cheaper.
