You are viewing an extremely rare 1994 Mega Monster Miata that was built by Monster Motorsports of Escondido, CA. It is car number 5 and was featured in at least two magazines - Mustangs and Fast Fords (January 1995) and Motor Magazine (May 1995). The Mega Monster Miata transformation begins with a tear down to the frame to strengthen it with custom fabricated engine and transmission mounts along with an array of chassis reinforcements. The engine bay then becomes home for the supercharged 5-litre EFI Ford V8 engine. A Kenne Bell polished Whipple supercharger provides 6.5 psi boost to lift power to 400HP/375TQ. The transmission is then replaced with the Ford T5 world class, 5-speed manual transmission to take on the added horsepower. The suspension is upgraded with Mazda RX7 R1 5-bolt hubs, uprights and spindles. The all double-wishbone suspension keeps a solid footprint on the road and includes forged aluminium A-arms, gas-charged shocks, custom high rate springs and oversize front and rear sway bars with high-performance nylon bushings. A heavy duty Ford limited-slip differential is installed to keep unwanted traction loss to a minimum. Safely stopping the Mega Miata are improved brakes from the Mazda RX7 R1 with its larger rotors and calipers. The exterior also gets the Mega-Monster treatment. It includes a fiberglass front nose section with enlarged cooling intake and integrated pop-up driving lights, fiberglass flared fenders and quarter panels, fiberglass rear valance with centre oval opening for the stainless steel cat-back dual exhaust system. Body enhancements also include a rear deck-lid wing, a louvered, bulging, and braced aluminium hood for better engine breathing and a DOT-approved Monster 4-point roll bar. This particular vehicle has been serviced regularly and always kept inside. The A/C system has been upgraded to the newer R134 system. It is in excellent condition throughout with only 11,000 original miles!
