Vehicle Detail
1931 Model A Rumble Seat Coupe. If you would like a very decent, barn-find sleeper this car is for you. I am the 4th owner. Last owner had it since 1962. At that point the Model A guru Linus Barber worked his maintenance magic and got this car into tip-top shape where the owner could just maintain it, which he did religiously. When I got the car it had been idle for about 4 years. I put shocks on it, changed the head gasket, changed the oil, the coolant, tranny and diff fluids - everything looked great. Also put new rotor and cap on it. Cleared the gas tank, flushed it with fresh gas, turned the key and it started immediately! I retorqued the head the next day and have put about 400 miles on it since without a single problem. This car is amazingly dependable. Runs and stops excellent. I have not yet pulled off a wheel because the brakes work really well. No slop in the wheel. Drives fairly straight. Cosmetically it is a 10-footer. It has all the expected dings. The paint is probably a 50's repaint that has had "maintenance spots" applied to prevent rust. The "blending" is a little suspect. Some spots the sheen doesn't even match but hey it's an 80 year old car. The rear fender ends are crunched a little. There's a dent in the roofline from a barn beam landing on it. The roof has a metal insert that is held in by screws(water tight), and no headliner (although the interior of the roof insert has been used as a maintenance log of sorts, as there is text scrawled all over the thing, Stuff like:"Valve Job 5/18/52 80,176 mi"), and various Saratoga addresses and phone numbers from the 50's. There is also a small amount of rust through at the front of both rear quarters about 5in x 3/4in, and a rough spot on the front passenger cowl. Interior needs work but is functional. Guide lights could come off. The rest of the car is very solid and dependable. The rumble seat is nice. All the gauges work. It's a nice driver that always gets me a ton of attention, especially because it isn't perfect, but doesn't look like a piece of junk! Vehicle sold as-is where-is, but I am willing to store until it can be picked up. Must be paid for ("in the mail") in 3 days - prefer US Postal Money Orders. I can help with transportation or possibly be able to deliver for a fee depending on location. Please contact me if you need more pictures, information, or want to see it in person. Thank you for your interest.
