Vehicle Detail
FOR SALE - 2008 Mazda MX-5 Miata Grand Touring PRHT (Power Retractable Hard Top) Red exterior, black leather interior. Stickered at $30,000 new, also purchased extended 100,000 mile warranty and has around $5,500 worth of improvements made to it, making it in my mind the 'perfect' Miata. I am pricing it to sell - if you are reading this and comparing it to other newer vehicles, please contact me if you have any questions as there is no comparison - this Miata is in PERFECT condition without a scuff and driven only in perfect weather. It is adult owned and has spent its time garaged and on a 4-post lift, except when out on a rare sunny evening drive. I am only selling it because I purchased another ‘fun’ car and do not need both. If you are interested in this vehicle, I recommend visiting and seeing it first hand as it is much easier to walk under it, around it and see it in person as most of the things below are much easier to describe in person. I am be most easily reached by email: brian@redlinetuning.com or if you have an iPad or Apple computer, I could arrange a Facetime meeting and walk around the car for you. Options include: Grand Touring package, black leather interior, 6 speed manual, Billstein sport suspension option, premium Bose surround sound, heated seats, power windows/doors, HID headlights, matching color-temperature LED fog lights, low profile rain guards, steering wheel controls for cruise, stereo etc. No key is needed to start vehicle, just need credit card sized device on body to enter and start. Or walk up to vehicle and press small black button on door handle, this will unlock the vehicle. Mileage around 11,990 may vary based on test drives. Vehicle is still under warranty, purchased vehicle new in 2009 along with 100,000 mile extended warranty. Simple, short history: The Miata had been a dream of mine forever and in 2009 I decided to purchase one (a 2008 purchased in 2009 at a dealer in Ohio - I didn't like the new smiley face front end they have put on the new Mazda's and looked for a new 2008). It is in perfect condition and I don't say that lightly - vehicle has never seen rain, snow or weather of any kind, only sunshine. This is not my daily driver, but a sunshine-only fun car for nice days to go for a drive with my wife. I have made quite a few hidden but significant improvements to the vehicle, most described below. The Miata is an extremely reliable vehicle and could be a daily driver if so inclined. Chrome fuel filler cap - Surprisingly, this OEM Mazda part did not come on the vehicle. One of the only outwardly visible items things done to the vehicle. Matching red brake calipers Painted using special epoxy lacquer caliper paint from a German company named Foliatec extremely durable and protects calipers as well. Mazda parts iPod adaptor module This allows use and control of ipod from steering wheel or Bose stereo. Enkei Racing 18" wheels with 225 40zr18 Yokohama Tires - The stock 17" rims were okay, but offset was just not good and the Miata sat like a 4x4 truck. These PF01 lightweight rims sit perfectly in-line with fender lip (correct offsest) and fill the wheel wells just as most European vehicles arrive stock. These rims are lightweight, just like stock 17” rims, to keep down rotational mass and maintain the lively feel that the Miata is known for. Below is an image of the wheel… All wheels were mounted and balanced with TPMS tire pressure monitoring sensors so the stock tire pressure checking system works as intended. Tires are still like new with less than a few thousand miles on them. http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-0615.html Billstein PSS10 full coil over suspension system - fully adjustable suspension with coil-over strut design. Easy to adjust ride height and shock absorber comfort from full sport stiff to soft stock level. Though I purchased the vehicle new with the Billstein sport suspension option, it was extremely soft and did not have handle like Miata's should handle. Miata's since 2006 are known for this softness which removes the feeling of being tied to the road With the new Billstein PSS10 coil over system, it still drives like stock, but has infinitely more control and grip to the road - this modification can be researched online but allows the perfectly balanced (50% F/R weight distribution) to work it's magic. Since the Miata has a lot of lightweight Aluminum components, including full torque arm, control arms, fully independent rear suspension, it needed a better coil-over system - night and day difference. Nothing handles this like this vehicle - top 10 in Car and Driver magazine for over 15 years. Vehicle can be raised or lowered easily using special spanner wrenches. But ride comfort is even more easily adjusted with a knob on the bottom of each strut this is accessible from outside the vehicle reaching through the wheel (adjustments click from 1-10). http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-0241.html Larini performance exhaust system - I investigated, read, listened to at least 30 different popular exhaust systems before deciding on this Italian system by Larini. The Miata comes with an extremely heavy and restrictive exhaust - though a single 2" tube runs back from the CAT to the muffler, the overall system is heavy and utterly silent which really pulls all the fun out of the car. Larini makes systems for Lamborghini, Ferrari and Bugatti, along with strangely enough, Mazda Miata. The sound is perfect - no drone at any speed, quiet yet sporty sound with enough throatiness and rumble to make it feel like a slightly larger engine - the magic comes when under throttle at higher RPM, it sounds perfect and is really a sound that is tough to beat. System is entirely stainless steel and was over $2k, including the high-flow stainless catalytic converter. The system added 18hp over stock, dropped many pounds off the vehicle and is in all ways another perfect addition to the Miata and what it is meant to be. Larini stopped production on Mazda Miata's in 2010/11, sticking to the high-end Ferrari & Lamborghini vehicles. http://www.larinisystems.com/ PRHT SmartTop module Normally on a Miata, to retract the hard top, you first unlock the single latch above rear view mirror. Then, you must be stopped with full key on or engine running and have your foot on the brake with the clutch depressed and must hold the retract button for the whole retracting process to complete before the vehicle can move. If any one of these things listed above does not continue while the top is retracting, it stops right where it is in the middle of the process. This can be a pain for many obvious reasons. A company in Europe developed software that ties into the system that allows for a one button. Just unlock the latch, and push the retract button once the whole retraction process will complete hands off. The vehicle can even be moving at slow speeds (programmable). System also still operates as it does stock if desired, just hold the button from start to finish. This modification does not save time, it is just for convenience… unlatch and one-button top down. Beatrush ALUMINUM Frame Rail Reinforcement Bar (front and rear) - The Miata includes a lot of Aluminum components and is decently strong and solid even as a convertible, it was designed to be one from the beginning. Yet, the bottom of the vehicle includes a few stamped steel frames for extra support. I have replaced these with Aluminum members, much stronger, lighter weight and more rigid allowing the suspension to do the work - not losing energy to body roll and flexing. http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-0029.html http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda-Performance-Part/61-0030.html Carbon fiber dash trim - This premium package included gloss black trim that ran across the dash (small piece on left of wheel, longer section to the right). I had a company in South Florida build me the two piece set out of carbon fiber (still black, but now has the carbon fiber cloth weave sport look and perfectly accents the black interio). Redline Tuning hood QuickLIFT system - Includes dual gas springs to lift and hold up the hood, eliminating the need for the stock prop rod support. http://www.redlinetuning.com/QL-MAZDA-MX5-06+.html Evolution III Car Cover - Includes an evolution III car cover - the material breaths allowing any moisture to escape while keeping rain and other things from entering - never used and included. I have the Miata stored on a lift in my garage and haven't needed the cover. Weathertech digital-fit floor mats - These plastic mats match the floor edge to edge. I don't use the stock cloth mats listed below, I personally like these. Mazda OEM Miata floor mats - I also purchased new Mazda OEM floor mats when I bought the car as they didn't come with the vehicle (they have never been used and are included). Vehicle is still under warranty and is literally perfect. I am trying to describe all of the important features, improvements and look of the vehicle as best I can, but really you must see it in person for this. My Miata is parked on a 4 post lift in my garage and is treated as another member of the family. Feel free to contact me with questions. Price - $24,750 with all options listed included, plus other items not listed. Copyright © 2003 Redline Tuning LLC. All Rights Reserved.
