The 2+2 version with a lengthened wheelbase was released several years later. The model was made in three distinct versions which are now generally referred to as "Series 1", "Series 2" and "Series 3". A transitional series between Series 1 and Series 2 is known unofficially as "Series 1½". On its release Enzo Ferrari called the Jaguar XKE "The most beautiful car ever made". Finished in Opalescent Silver Grey over Red leather, this rare open-headlight, 4.2L Series I makes a great collectable driver. The numbers-matching 2-seater coupe remains largely original, including the factory chalked body number still visible in the engine compartment. Highly optioned with 4-speed manual transmission, A/C (needs servicing) and Michelin Redline tires mounted on chrome wire wheels. The strong original motor in the XKE runs very well with a recently overhauled ignition system and tune of the carburetors; all mated to the smooth shifting transmission with a brand new clutch.
