I am the second owner of this car – I bought it in June 2004 with 16,452 miles directly from Mercedes-Benz USA via Manheim Corp. The car came with a Buyback Title which means that Mercedes-Benz purchased the car back from its original owner. HISTORY:Back in 2004 Mercedes offered a buy back program to the owners of 2003 E-class cars who pre-paid for navigation system when they purchased the car. Navigation was not available in 2003 but MB dealers encouraged buyers to pre-pay and promised to retrofit it free of charge when the system became available. The cars came pre-wired for all navigation components from the factory. In early 2004, MB announced that due to complexity in electronic systems retrofit was not possible and offered to purchase cars back from the owners (actually, owners were given 2004 models but they had to pay 20 cents per mile for the mileage they put on their 2003 cars). My car is one of about 250 ’03 cars that were purchased back and later resold with a Buy Back title. TODAY:The reason I listed the car as 2004 is because I have done modifications and brought it very close to 2004 year of production. Being an engineer, I figured out a way to retrofit original Mercedes Navigation system and outfit the car with European COMAND unit that gives owner ability for playing MP3 files and DVD movies (something that US version don’t support). SUPER CLEAN CAR!The car has never been in any accident and has original paint. It runs exceptionally well and everything works as it supposed. The car has never seen a flake of snow so there is absolutely no rust. As a matter of fact, the car’s paint is in such excellent condition that people don't believe when I tell them it’s a ’03 car. The car has always been garaged and well cared for (just ask my neighbors! J). The car has just been serviced and received oil change about two weeks ago (good for 12K miles). SERVICE RECORDS AVAILABLE!I have kept all service and repair records – I will be more than happy to pass them to the new owner.
