Vehicle Detail

Offered for sale is this 1968 Triumph TR6C Trophy Special. It is a 650cc twin cylinder motorcycle restored to concourse factory specifications with extreme attention to original detail. Called the “Desert Bike” in 1968 Cycle World Magazine by Triumph LTD Coventry England, the Trophy Special was the winner of more cross country events than any machine you can name, thus called the “Desert Bike”. Finished in HiFi Riviera Blue and lined in Gold. A 650 twin cylinder with high level exhaust system. High level exhaust shown below . External fork springs with internal damper rod. This type of damper rod was fitted as standard on the “C” model 650cc and 500cc. Wheels are laced with Buchanan Stainless Steel spokes. Dunlop rims were re-plated. Correct hardware can be seen throughout. Stainless steel fenders front and rear. The rear fender still with all the wiring retaining clips (not found on reproduction types). Rider’s view of handle bars features kill button on the right and horn button on the left. Many U. S. Dealers installed the kill switch on the left side . Skid plate fitted as standard to the “C” models. Good shot of the crank case finish. These cases have not been blasted. All correct under seat including breathing tube routing as well as chain oiler. Water slide decals also present on oil tank. Rebuilt speedometer is run by a new rear wheel drive gear and Smith cable. Headlamp houses the light switch, dip switch and warning. Speedo photo shows the many finishes on the machine including polished aluminum, chrome plating and cadmium plating, powder coating and stainless steel. Both wheels are built with new bearings and brake shoes. Steering damper can bee seen in photos as well as steering head. Bearings all renewed. Much has been said about the TR6 having an excellent engine. After engine number DU59320 the amal monobloc was replaced by the all new amal concentric for 1968 and a new one can be found here. Easy starting, excellent idle and easy to tune. Engine was treated to a complete overhaul with all new bearings and seals. Guides were installed in the head. All built to stock specifications. Cylinder was bored for use with standard compression .020, oversized pistons, crank shaft sludge trap was cleaned out. Clutch and transmission parts were all gone through. Tolerances checked and reset. New bearings and springs. This bike now has 3.9 test miles which were performed with no issues. The bike performs as it is designed to. Runs and shifts great. All assembly and finish work was done by concourse restorer, Leroy Turner. Many hours of work and money invested in this project. I am very proud to offer it for sale. Like a step back in time….this 1968 TR6C Trophy Special is that! Shipping is the buyer’s responsibility; however, I am happy to drop the bike off at any local shipper.
