I Just finished building this bike after a few months of careful planning, researching and applying. I bought the bike a few months ago with the intent of doing a long distance bike trip with some old friends, and then the plan was to turn it into a AHRMA Vintage roadrace bike. I started by rebuilding the entire front brake set up, new steel braided line off the master Cylinder, new seals in the master cylinder, new fluid, rebuilt the front caliper. I then had the front forks completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. New fork seals, had the legs spun on a lathe with 220 grit paper to polish them up for oil. And put in new fluid in the forks. Moved on to cleaning the carbs ( surprisingly they were very clean to start with) I replaced the following parts with new: air filters, fuel lines, spark plugs, engine oil, intake manifolds, new battery, clutch cable, throttle tube, throttle cables. Front and rear tires ( Shinko 712R’s ) New upholstery on the seat, New Oury grips Also installed a set of Clubman race bars and installed a simple switch in the center for the electric starter. The airbox covers are removed but come with the bike as well as the center stand. Starts right up on the first kick. Obviously the bike is 37 years old and is not completely restored or pristine. I think it has just the right amount of patina and has the perfect looks of a vintage café race bike. These classic Honda CB’s are getting harder to find in this kind of condition. Mine is an excellent example of what they should be like. Fun bike and should be ridden and enjoyed. Currently has 10,400 miles.
