1995 Camaro Z/28 “1LE” Factory Lightweight Special Performance Race Car Package In the eighties, Chevrolet’s Corvette completely dominated the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Showroom Stock Series (the supremacy was so great; the SCCA outlawed the Corvette). Chevrolet responded with a special lightweight, high performance package for the Camaro Z/28. The “Special Performance Package” was available to racers under RPO “1LE”. Special ordering RPO “1LE” provided nothing less than a full-fledged factory racecar, however one that you could legally register, insure and drive on the street. From 1988 through 1999, a grand total of 1,914 of these special factory produced lightweight Camaro racecars were manufactured. This Z/28 is one of them (106 were built in 1995 and only 28 cars were delivered to Canadian dealers). Given racing attrition, it’s difficult to determine how many are left today. This particular Z/28 “1LE” was produced on March 14th, 1995 at GM’s Ste. Therese, Quebec production facility. Today, this “1LE” Camaro has less than 10,000 original miles. As shown here the car is equipped with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter and an SLP skip shift disabler (the only modifications to the car). For much of the time, this “1LE” has lived in small collections enjoying meticulous service since new. It needs nothing, runs, and drives, as a new high performance car should. Included with the paperwork for the car is the Factory Window Sticker, GM of Canada Historical Documentation, Original Bill of Sale, Original GM of Canada Delivery Report, Original GM of Canada Pre-Delivery & Inspection Report, Original Owner’s Manual & Bag, Original Warranty Book, Original ABS Brake Placard, Original Dealer Service Handbook. The Camaro is located in central Vancouver Island on the west coast of British Columbia (one ferry ride away from the US-Canada border). The Camaro is easily exported into the USA, and has full US DOT and EPA compliance (you will need a letter of compliance from GM of Canada, but I can assist with the process -- it is simple). There is no added duty or sales tax for American residents. While this Camaro only has 14,435 Kilometers (8995 miles), it is considered used. Therefore, it is being sold “As Is, Where Is and with no guarantees expressed or implied”. Inspections are welcome. Reserve is low. Good luck bidding!
